Chromatose is the result of various experiments with color theory and developing game graphics using Minecraft as a vehicle. I also got tired of seeing the ugly 'coder' graphics that came with the game originally. I also got highly involved in this because I've found playing Minecraft to me is like developing a zen garden, you take a lot of time developing structures of intrigue and that's what I hope this pack can do is help make those wonderful structures look that much better.



If you download this pack, you may -

Use this pack in any video even with monetization. If you do monetize you MUST include a link to this thread or the one on PlanetMinecraft.
Use parts of this pack in any PRIVATE remix packs... you CANNOT and I repeat CANNOT redistribute the remix in ANY way.
Use any of the CTM coding to reference ways of making a pack yourself.

You also are restricted from doing the following -

You are not allowed to redistribute any piece of this pack AT ALL except for the CTM Coding that I have described above.
You are not allowed to take any asset and claim it as your own.

There are two types of [Base] packs... one is -Stable- and the other is Experimental, the experimental one is always changing but might have something messed up in it. It's pretty much what I use through dropbox to go between my drawing laptop and my PC. The stable one goes through CurseForge, you can also get the archival packs for the 1.5(backwards compatable) and 1.6. These are no longer updated though.

These links go through Adfoc.us to help me produce a small fund that I use to help my house a bit, it's not much but helps with groceries every once in a while

I've set things up with the pack to work as a stand alone pack with add-on packs for either MCPatcher or Optifine. The reason behind this is because I've tried out my pack with Optifine and found that there are several new things with CTM that aren't available either because they've not been updated within Optifine or what have you. So I've set out to work an add-on pack that will make it so people who work with Optifine aren't burned but rather enhanced.

So here's what you'll need to do!

You just take the base pack and the add-on that coresponds to the mod you're using either MCPatcher or Optifine.
Put that in your .minecraft/resourcepacks folder.
Go into Minecraft, hit the Resource Packs Button, and put the Base Pack on the bottom of the list with the MCPatcher or Optifine over it.
If done right everything will be working fine.



I don't mind anyone taking the time to share my pack around, in fact I wholly support people spreading the word!

Alrighty folks, finally got done with all of them items... trust me I believe they look a ton better.

So add to the list...

All
Seeds, Shears, sign, All Skull icons (pre1.8), Slimeball, Snowball,
Spawn Egg and overlay, Spider's eye, Fermented Eyes, Sticks, Stone
Tools, String, Shovel, Sugar, Wheat, All Wood Tools... Also had things
set up in the folder so the newest stuff be at the bottom... so the
following list is a bit odd XD

Clock, Compass, Charcoal, Lead,
Nametag, Clownfish, Pufferfish, Salmon (raw and cooked), Prismarine
Shards and Crystals, Barrier, Everything Bunny (Stew, Hide, Raw, Cooked
and Foot), Mutton (raw and cooked), All the new door icons, Saddle, the
Ruby (if someone uses it in a mod...) Barrier, Banner icons... that I
don't think get used at all... and finally Wooden Armorstands....

that was a lot of work...  Also got a new font ascii put into both the
Base pack and MCPatcher... My old handwriting one is the original but
all you got to do is copy and paste it into the .../font/ folder and you
can have the 'Timeless' font made by Manfried Klein....  I lay no claim
of ownership to this font.

Another Experimental base pack update... soon I'll be updating the Stable base pack... I'll keep you posted on that...

A few more items fixed up...

Painting icons, Paper, Porkchops
(cooked and raw), Potatos (raw, cooked and rotten) Potion Bottles,
Splash Potion Bottle, Potion overlay, Pumpkin Pie, Quartz, All records,
Redstone Dust, Reeds, Repeaters, and Rotting Flesh.

So far
getting through all of the old items and cleaning them up has been it's
own unique challenge.  Once I get this done, I'll be sure to check out
Optifine for 1.8 and see what needs to be updated there as well as
finish up all the unique aspects I was working on with that.

The
next update will probably add two new 'font' files to the pack, Both
will be sourced from DaFonts.com and I'll be sure to add their links in
the op when I am done.  They will not be on defaultly but rather
something you can go in and change easily.  I will have a 'Clean Font'
and an 'Exotic' font.  Also the original 'SRD's Handwriting' font will
still be available.

Feel free to click on the buttons up at the top of the OP for the downloads.  Remember if you just use Vanilla without anything like Optifine or MCPatcher, you will just need the 'Base' pack.  If you use one of the two mods previously stated, Grab the add-on for that mod and put it on top of the list with the base pack under it.  I hope you enjoy my little mad meandering here XD

Some more items made it through the grind of detranslucentization

YAY over 10,000 Downloads!!!!

Updates so far...

Another update to the base pack, some more items have been edited to
remove that ghastly ghost pixelization due to 1.8 allowing for
translucent pixels in the item icons.

So far got through to the 'E's

Fixed
Bones again, had a couple spair pixels I missed, fixed Cake, Carrots
(reg, gold, and the one on a stick), Cauldron, Chicken (raw and cooked),
Clay Balls, Coal, Comparator, Cookies, Diamonds, Diamond Tools got a
tweek also.  Iron and Oak Door Icons, Dyes (all of 'em, rose apparently
the worst with ghost pixels), Eggs, Emeralds, Eye of Ender, Ender Pearl,
Experience Bottles, Feathers, Fire Charge, Fireworks, charge and
overlay, Cod Fish (cooked, raw and the classic pre1.7 versions), Fishing
Rods, Flint, Flint and Steel, and Flowerpots.

So now Got A - F done with all items tweaks.

Also updated the MCPatcher Addon to allow folks to use the new updated MCPatcher for 1.8!!!  If anything's broke let me know ok!

Alrighty 'bout time for a new update on this thing... folks it's a bit of a list.

So far I added four entities...
the Sheep, Endermite, Silverfish, and Armor Stand

Also started going through and fixing the item textures for bad pixels and
translucent pixels... this is going to take a bit of time.

However I already got the following done and out of the way
Apple, Golden Apple, Arrows, Bed, Beef, Cooked Beef, Blaze Powder, Blaze Rod,
Boat, Bones, All Books, Bowls, All Bow stages (lots of tweeks done to
clean these up), Bread, Brewing Stand, Bricks, All Buckets....

So far this is my next major project with this pack, finishing up
mobs/entities and fixing the translucent pixels and bad pixels in the
Items.

My minor project in this pack is to redo the fonts
Sorry for the late update, been working that big overtime for the last month or so...

Sorry I've not been actively updating this pack... I have been working nonstop for the last three weeks at work... loads of overtime... mandatory too... so I just haven't had as much time to work on this pack as I'd like... not like I want to.  I have been working on updating the MCPatcher setup for 1.8 and I'll be working on getting the 1.8 Optifine in order as soon as I can.  Also got some of the mobs worked on... I'll update as soon as I can!

Just updating to note that the pack is usable in 1.8, however MCPatcher
and Optifine are still only available for 1.7.  There will be an update
to include the new textures here today after I get home from work.

Strangely
enough the only way for the pack to register in PMC that it's for a
certain version is by updating the log... Otherwise it'll simply ignore
the addition.

Sorry I haven't been more forthcoming with more
textures, had a loss in the household with the passing of our faithful
hound Buddy.

Another small update to the Optifine Addon tonight before bed.

Did some tweaks to some of the textures, specifically dirt/grass/snow and such and also added the animated Jack-o-lantern CTM and the random Stone CTM normal maps.

I've also updated the Minecraft version, even though it shouldn't matter for resource packs, but Chromatose is
compatable with 1.7.10 XD

Alrighty another update for the Optifine-Addon

Finally finished
getting all the normal maps put up for the regular blocks.  Also found
out that I accidentally over written my stained clay with the normal
maps so all the stained clay was a bit pinkish XD
That's fixed now.

Have fun, I'll probably go back and change some of the normals again and finish the CTM Normals as well.

Added another couple dozen normal maps including the normals for the trees in CTM... thought it couldn't be done I was wrong XD

A bit of an update to the Optifine addon

After playing with Sonic
Ether's Shaders, I've begun in working on some Normal Maps, these will
get some work done on them as I go through and add the mapping using
GIMP to get a basic mapping done.  I also intend on adding some much
needed Specular maps to some of the shiney stuff that needs some shine.

There will also be more changes to this addon to incur better results to SEUS users.  So be warned SEUS is awesome.

Another update to the Base Experimental

Added Ocelots and an homage to my ol' friends and my brother's cat.
Black cat - Runt my old friend, another one for you (r.i.p)
Orange Cat is now a bluish silver to represent Chewy, Runt's brother.
Siamese is my brother's cat Archie, a tortiseshell cat.

Another update to the 'Base' experimental pack and the 'Optifine Add-on'

Base pack got the blockstates for Grass, Dirt, Sand, Red Sand, Stone, and Netherrack fixed so there's no random rotations...
Also added the following items (all the 1.8 items are now done with this.
Prismarine
Shard, Prismarine Crystal, Barrier, Rabbit Stew, Rabbit Hide, Raw
Rabbit, Cooked Rabbit, (a lucky) Rabbit's foot, Raw Mutton, and Cooked
Mutton.

If you happen to see any more rotated blocks be sure to
let me know, I don't want to have people angry with me missing one or
two out of the hundreds that are in game XD

Alrighty changed the 'Optifine Addon'

Removed the strata effect in the stone and ores because Optifine cannot handle the new 'heights' method in MCPatcher
Also removed Translucent Obsidian
I also changed it so the 'Mesa Specific' stained clay is now universal again because Optifine cannot use the new biomes
Still having issue with the CTM Glass... could be an outdated Optifine or something... I'll check tonight

Hope this helps the users who use optifine!

A small update... I'm reworking the thread at Minecraft Forum and I'll also be reworking things here... I'm making my pack like some of the others where it's set up as a multiple segments - ie a Base and Add-on setup.  The addons will be a MCPatcher (full featured) and Optifine (kinda not so full featured,) so with this in mind... the Experimental Pack has changed technically, and is now the 'Base' pack...  I'll be editing this thread here soon to reflect the one on Minecraft Forum.

If you please head on to MCF for the 'add-on' packs.  I'll shortly be working on getting the Optifine specific one fixed up...

In other news. I done up the Iron Golem.

Fair warning, there's new rotation effects (Optifine's Natural Textures) in the latest snapshot, I've not fixed this so it's not on in my pack so just letting you know there's gonna be some funky effects going on that is result on Mojang's end.

Fixed the Sea Lanterns... had miswrote the .mcmeta for it... that is all
for tonight.  I'm going about now to set up layered packs rather than
the original one pack to rue them all... Hopefully to have a base pack
and one that is dedicated to MCPatcher and another set up for Optifine
(because we all know Optifine might be good for PC's with less than
stellar power but it's CTM is way in the back, also doesn't support the
newer Biomes.

Alrighty another update to Chromatose - EXPERIMENTAL

Went ahead and tweaked the animations for the Prismarine stone and brick
Added Coarse Dirt, Wet Sponges, Sea Lanterns with animation
Tweaked the particles, hopefully now some kind of effect can be had with fireworks with them now XD
Also got the 'Shadow', Pumpkin Blur and Underwater changed!

EXPERIMENTAL UPDATE!

We're burning up with new fire animations (both the layer 0 and 1... don't know if the other is used so I just done both)

Also got the Prismarine Stone, Dark Prismarine, and Prismarine Bricks done.

The
P-Stone and P-Bricks both have a nice long animation going too...
although I don't have the interpolate added to it... might test it later
to see.

Also fixed more of the Coal CTM for having the 'white' stone with the wrong tiles.  Hopefully this will help clean things up.

Another update for Experimental

Fixed a flawed coal properties file
added 121 Oak and Pine plank tiles,

Completely removed the old CTM planks.

Also apparently forgot to note about the other planks being done on the chatlog.

Hope this will make things better in the long run.  Let me know what you think!

Alrighty folks, got a new update; changed the planks around so they no longer have borders (except the oak and pine at this time... I'll be updating that later)

So now there are 121 tiles for Acacia, Dark Oak, Birch, and Jungle plank blocks, these will not transition onto the slabs or stairs.  I'll later produce properties for the top and bottom of plank slabs but not for the sides.  Come and enjoy the new plank setup!

Fixed Stone properties
Added 32 Coal ore properties
Added 32 Gold ore properties
Added 32 Lapis ore properties
Added 32 Diamond ore properties
Added 32 Emerald ore properties

Now there should only be visual issues with Iron and Redstone ores.
I'm going to add some screenshots here to illustrate the crazy additions to the stone.
Also
plotting on after I get all of these properties I'm going to try to
organize my threads and set up some vids showcasing the project before
finishing up.

A small update on my PC situation, now I've gotten some decent hardware and I'll be going through and putting stuff together this weekend.  I'm very excited as I'll have the hardware capacity to play my pack with very little issue but perhaps even do some videos.

Hi folks, got an update to the pack, all 38 Biome specific CTM files are installed for Stone.  So now there should be significant changes between biomes!

I cannot however test this and ensure that it works properly.  If you see any bugs please let me know, specifically the biome you're in and the height.

Ok, here's the story so far.

I got Minecraft working with my Ol' Blue, however I cannot seem to get anything running right with MCPatcher.  Apparently I run out of memory when I could run it fine with XP.  I think it's something to do with the older graphics card now because I've pumped as much ram into Minecraft as I can.

However that hasn't stopped me completely on my pack.  I just can't test my strata stone and I've already got all my paterns set up and biomes chosen...  So far I'm hoping that I've got enough 'random-ness' to make it so that even similar biomes will have diversity.

If you folks could please take screens for me of any issues. Namely the exact biome and the heights.  I'll be happy to fix them up and finalize this phaze of the experiment into stable.  I haven't gotten anything set up yet but I'll let you all know when I get things updated!

Just a little notice about why I've not been active as the last couple of weeks.

I've been busy fixing the mess that I've made for myself by not keeping upgraded in hardware and software.
With WinXP loosing it's security updates, all my work on said OS will either have to be done offline or on a Virtual Machine (google it btw great concept).  So I've been working with my ol' beast and trying out various linux distros to figure out what I can do there, so far it's been a more stable environment than most.  I've also had a USB ubuntu planted on the old LE1700 I got and it ran well with GIMP so all the Wacom stuff is working right.

So in short I've been busy working the XPocalype like so many others.  But nice thing is most programs set up for XP probably work with Wine/Playwithlinux.  And if not the VM will take care of that.

Anyhow it might take me a bit to get things settled after this and I'll also be working on getting a more beastly machine set up so do stay tuned!

Update to the EXPERIMENTAL!

Added CTM random variants of all ores that corespond to the stone coloration!

Each tone of stone will have 7 random ore variants, except iron and diamonds which have 14 and 3 respectively

Another update to the Experimental pack.

You will NEED, and I repeat, NEED an update to MCPatcher.  4.3.2 is out with a new method for an old variant.
I've used it with my new stone and I want opinions? 

Would you all enjoy playing with this feature?

Another update on 1.7 Experimental, now called 1.8 experimental because all 1.8 blocks are done and over with.

That's right, Diorite, Andesite, and Granite done with smooth variants; Slime blocks, and Iron Trapdoors.

Also been hard at work on fixing up the CTM issues too.
So far, Mossy Cobblestone had been fixed, been working on the wood so the 'random slat overlay' has been removed but will be returned as part of the CTM planks.

Also got Pumpkins and Jack-o-lanterns reworked! With fully animated Jack-o-lantern faces.

I've also gotten all the new fishies finished and ready to go, fixed poppies, and I won't have to worry too much about the enchantment GUI because how I designed it left it open for both objects.

Sorry I thought I posted my update on here too XD... anyhow, 1.7 STABLE is updated with new CTM Glass and ALL colors of stained glass. Also fixed some issues with how renderPass3 got nix'd
