Weird Font on site

Hey, well my font became weird on 04.23 at the morning for no reason
I use Chrome and my OS is Windows 7, btw right where I'm writing the font is fine

* In the process of searching of solution I found *

- resetting cache and cookies does not solve the problem
- I saw in the source code of the site that it uses custom version of the Roboto font
when a font lacks special characters, it uses system fonts, namely Arial
when it looks for Arial in the system, it finds the first font that fulfill it's needs and (in my case) has the name with special characters or numbers which goes before A in the alphabet order
so it causes a bug and site uses weird font instead of needed Arial

To solve this problem site could be using original fonts and store them on its own but it is not necessary
It's more optimal to use google fonts directly
because there are original Google fonts with ready-made configurations with preloading and smart font distribution depending on the system.

It would be incredibly great if you could fix font configuration issue please.

Do you have a source for the information about the font lacking special characters falling back to system fonts?
We moved from hosting fonts on Google because it's slower to make a connection and request a font from a third-party, even Google, then self-hosting it. In addition, we are now able to preload the font and have it ready before the page tries to use it. This improves all page speed loading & rendering time.

However, I need to fix whatever is causing your computer / browser to decide the font is invalid. I'd like to read more if you have a source. I much rather fix our hosted font(s) than go back to the slower method of hosting on Google.

The Roboto font is pretty much one of the popular on sites and I'm having no problems anywhere but here unfortunately. I had similar problem before with some sites I made.
It's not about speed but about compatibility. I think you're using unoriginal Roboto font (probably with some custom changes or additions), that's why it's acting weird and trying to replace itself with anything else. The font does not have to be loading from Google if you'd like to host it on your own, however it has to be correctly installed on site to not cause any bugs.

Is it fixed for you now? I'm loading the fonts from Google for you and the one other member I'm aware of that is experiencing the issue.

I'll continue to look into this but I'm unable to reproduce the issue even when using browserstack.com to view PMC on Windows 7 with Chrome which isn't a rare setup. I don't know why the font isn't loading properly on your system but hopefully I can figure out a way to reproduce the issue. I know not to look for your personal font when reproducing. It would most likely be Arial.

I used https://google-webfonts-helper.herokuapp.com/fonts to download the various versions of the Roboto font that we use and for compatibility with various browsers.

Yes, I deleted that font from the list and it was fine after that
Now after your fix I installed it back again and it seems okay, yay! ^^
Thank you!

My local language of the OS is Russian not English if it's important to know
And also I can provide the font which site took instead of Arial if needed

It is a personal setting of some kind overriding our font.
I've tried Googling to find others with similar issues and they all recommend checking your browser's font settings:

I wish I could find a new solution or the precise issue for you.

I checked fonts in my browser
everything looks fine
this is the only site I see this font and I'm pretty sure I did nothing with fonts like ever 👀

I'm really perplexed as to why this would be happening.

All I can think of is that you may have accidentally dragged the font into the browser while using PMC and your browser thinks its the font you want to use.

Check your browser font settings.
