What is the best early-game iron farm setup?

I have a survival world with a nearby village, and I want to know what's the most efficient way to do an iron farm.

Looking at Iron_Golem_farming (BR section) I would guess some of the pre-1.13 door based iron farms might be adapted (substituting beds for doors) and placing the first bed where one wants the village center.
The main issue with any adaptation was pre-1.13 java used the actual geometric center of all valid doors, while current BR appears to use the POI nearest that location…
