This MCEdit filter is for creating gashes along the land whose depth and direction are defined by your selection box.
To use, place the .py in your MCEdit filter directory. In MCEdit, select the area you wish to slash with a gash, and then select Filters and this filter. If you are happy with the result, save. If you want to start over, undo (Ctrl+Z) and repeat.
The filter detects the orientation of your selection box and renders the gash along the longest length.

There is an MCEdit Smooth filter, or you may try generating a superflat preset map and bring parts over using MCEdit.
