hello world and all who inhabit it, and welcome to my tutorial. first i would like to say that the only reason i am posting this is because i messed up the audio in my video. (which can be found here:How To: Make a Minecraft Mod - Part 1 - Getting Started - YouTube) first you will need to download and install java jdk and jre, you can get them here: Java SE Downloads after you have those installed you will need a program called MCP, you can get that here: MCP Releases - Mod Coder Pack after that you need to extract the MCP zip to a folder. (it dosent matter where) then you will to locate your .minecraft folder, in windows 7/vista you can open start menu and put in the search %appdata% it will be in a folder named roaming. once you are in the .minecraft folder you need to copy your reasouces and bin folders to the jars folder in mcp. next you need to copy yor minecraft.jar to the jars folder. (it must be the same minecraft.jar in the bin folder and it must be a vanilla jar) finally you can go to your mcp folder, hit decompile, and mcp will convert the jar into text files that you can edit. these are located in src/minecraft/net/minecraft/src.
