Hey.

Ever feel that the Texture Update was too bold of a change? Maybe you enjoy JAPPA (and his team)'s sleeker, more traditional style of pixel art but miss the classic textures that defined the game for so many years. I think you know where we're going.

Everyone's interpretation is unique for what constitutes a "JAPPA-esk" texture and what defines the classic look of Minecraft. This pack attempts to bend 1.14's edits to the game towards the original designs for blocks, items, and the rest, without reverting away from the new art direction.

Introducing to you, a loyal Texture Update

Updates?

I try to do regular updates on this; some large, some more minor. I encourage anybody to share thoughts about anything regarding the pack.

I love this pack, a lot, but I do have some comments on the newest update's (Update #7's) changes. I like the gold block, its very "buttery", the way I like my gold colored in my opinion. I also kinda like how sharp looking the new cobble texture looks but it can be a bit distracting sometimes.
The main textures I have quarrels with are the stone and wooden plank textures. With the stone, it appears too "lumpy", its mostly noticeable when its in large, flat areas. I can mostly attribute this to the large, slightly lighter streaks in the middle and top of the texture.
The second texture I am put a tiny bit off by is the wooden plank family of blocks, the little dots on the planks are in a somewhat distracting placement, I would recommend placing them in their original Programmer Art placements.

My favorite textures you have done are this current dandelion, the bucket family of textures and the dispenser back/piston base.

I admit things like stone and cobblestone are a little rough since the last update involved several texture redoes. I’ve done some work towards polishing things up a little. I have noticed the lumpy feel with the stone, which I attribute to the lack of finer detailing (probably related to those streaks you mentioned). The planks have been less on my radar for things to fix but I do see what you're pointing out about the dots, so I'll try to address that. It's cool to see people's engagement and enthusiasm for the project, so thank you.

As someone who did texture packs with this and still intending to making a remaster of my Vintage collection, this has got to be the one of the best Jappa-Programmer Hybrid packs that I've seen in a very long time, even nailed it better than I could ever do with the Vintage collection due to the timespan that I made them in, I'm excited to see many more updates to this pack and seeing how perfectly iconic this will be, Keep up the great work! :D

P.S. I gotta love the potion status icon textures that you did too, you've nailed this so well!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it. Funny enough, the potion effects were the first textures I did for this and they were what launched me into the whole project (of course they've mostly changed since I started with the exception of fire resistance). I remember seeing your Vintage Tools-and-Items pack a while back too and I thought those were all very cool. Your posts are very interesting so don't sell yourself short! Good luck on your remastering :)

This is just a bit too slight of a change, in my opinion.
