set status to Closed, set resolution to Won't Fix. We decided, for SEO reasons (we appear on more searches for "texture packs" than "resource packs" for instance), that this is a no-go. We will continue to support all of the new Resource Pack features and whatnot, but this one would hurt the site more than it would help.
This is planned. The problem is just that we don't want to lazily convert the name without actually properly fulfilling the needs of the community (having proper sorts for having sounds/textures/ui/whatever instead of just assuming it's all textures).
We're a community of 4.4 million creative members sharing everything Minecraft since 2010! Even if you don't post your own creations, we always appreciate feedback on ours.
