History
The Taslov-class was a light bomber manufactured by Datopala Industrial. Designed to complement the selection of existing strike craft produced by Datopala, particularly the popular Tessin-class light fighter, the Taslov-class could deal massive damage to opposing strike craft, capital ships, or fortified facilities via its large quantity of ordnance. The design team for the Taslov-class was based primarily in Paz Metticta, a system which contained multiple Datopala-operated surface and orbital facilities including the second largest manufacturing plant owned by the company. The project began in 48,819 ACT, with a significant amount of time given for initial design and prototyping. Datopala Industrial still was inexperienced to some extent with strike craft design and manufacturing, with the only designs under 400 years old in the company's portfolio being the Tessin, Codap, Ledax, and Cacciet classes. The Taslov-class would also be the first bomber developed by Datopala Industrial, and the company intended to design and produce their own missiles and associated systems in parallel. This was expected to be a significant undertaking by the engineers, and so the initial program schedule set the completion of a prototype strike craft in 48,827 ACT, eight years after the project began, and anticipated the first production bomber to be done in 48,835 ACT. This date would be pushed back a cumulative four years due to various delays, primarily from the missile development team based in Idetaa'nis, who took some time to complete the navigation software for their first missile, the SCI-90 Sacroet.

The Taslov-class carried no laser cannons or other directed energy weapons, equipped only with twin missile launchers on the bottom of the bomber to launch the vessel's large store of Sacroet missiles. The launchers were slow to cycle compared to other strike craft in TAUFOG, in part due to the design team's focus on redundant systems and durability. Given the Taslov-class's light armor and shielding, it was not expected to come out of engagements unscathed, and without other weapon systems to damage strike craft or larger targets, engineers wanted the missile deployment and loading systems to stay functional even after the ship's structure took serious damage. While Datopala did not have much experience with strike craft, their Balkon-class capital ships and freighters were well known for being both highly reliable and very durable, and the engineers leverages the company's institutional knowledge about structures and materials on the Taslov-class to create a bomber capable of maintaining controlled flight and even offensive capability while taking multiple direct hits. One pre-production model had an engine explosion while conducting combat maneuver tests and was able to return to the shipyard with almost 40% of the starboard side of the strike craft missing, although it was found through simulations that the prototype would have disintegrated if it continued to fly for more than a couple hours, or if put through additional high-g maneuvers. The high durability and safety of the Taslov-class caused the strike craft to sell well internationally in Ivesceel, with many smaller TAUFOG nations expressing interest in the bomber as a low cost alternative to something like the Vequi-class, an advanced long-range bomber being produced by Kualin Stardrives. While t he Taslov-class could not carry anti-ship torpedoes, its Sacroet missiles were on par with some of the best nuclear missiles produced by companies such as Lezekka Technologies and Cyxtess Technologies, and Datopala Industrial sold their ordnance at lower cost to undercut competitors. The combination of affordable strike craft and ordnance to arm them led to high sales, especially for a shipbuilder's first model in a category of strike craft, and would lead to additional bomber models being developed over the following decades.
