Grief definition according to Wikipedia: "A griefer is a player in a multiplayer video game who deliberately irritates and harasses other players within the game, using aspects of the game in unintended ways. A griefer derives pleasure primarily or exclusively from the act of annoying other users, and as such is a particular nuisance in online gaming communities, since griefers often cannot be deterred by penalties related to in-game goals."

With this definition in hand and me being a griefer sometimes, there are 3 reasons griefers grief. I am not one of those griefers who do it out of the pleasure of joy, I do it for my own sake which I will label in this. This will be about survival griefing also, not creative/worldedit griefing as that is in another category.

1. To obtain items (My Problem)
One of the reasons people grief is because they need supplies that take too long to get/find on their own. This reason throughout makes it easier for people to obtain items that are faster than actually going to find them. This allows players to have the stress on you of getting items away and puts the stress on the players who get griefed to get more items. People also want to do it out of the sake so as much to make them get more materials. Of course, there is a way to stop this, mostly with plugins though.
SOLUTION: If the server has a claiming land plugin, I suggest you use it. It is the most efficient way to actually have griefers not grief your building. This makes it so a player cannot grief without special permission from you in most of the anti-grief plugins.

2. The act of aggression/revenge (Most people's problem)
The most common reason of griefing would have to be aggression. Players in games usually aggravate a certain person in a server whether it be a powerful or weak person. It doesn't matter because soon enough they will want to get revenge on you which basically is griefing. Griefing to the aggressor is a way of means to get back at the player for talking "smack" to them. The aggressor would then usually insult the player who insulted them before and that player will tell some staff guy and if it is allowed then he will say something to more like about protect your stuff better or something like that if there is no anti-grief plugin on the server. This also is a case with creative griefing sometimes which is basically abusing your power. Let's say you get in an argument with the owner and there's a big commotion about it. The owner would win it and you would be left mad. Well, at least, the people who are actually serious with the game would be mad. This would leave the player so mad, of course, they would want to get revenge. Revenge helps them "get back" at the person who angered them in the first place. A lot of people also anger a lot of random people.:P
SOLUTION: Don't get into arguments that much or else this might happen. Especially to a random stranger.

3. Trolling

Trolling is the #1 reason of why people grief, even if I put it third :3. The definition of trolling according to the Urban Dictionary: "Being a prick on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing one or more cynical or sarcastic remarks on an innocent by-stander, because it's the internet and, hey, you can." This is the most unworthy site to find a definition but it has it's right and wrong defintions sometimes and this is a right definition or most accurate one. People nowadays are into this thing called, "Trolling" which is basically like what the definition says. Basically being a prick. People think that trolling is funny and do it so often especially on Minecraft. The truth is trolling isn't funny. It may be to you but not the person who gets trolled. Trollers also leave remarks as such like, "TROLOLOLOLOLOL" which annoys me. >.< Trolling has been a big part of the online society now that it happens so so often now. Now trolling in Minecraft has now been a part of bans in Minecraft too. Griefers like to troll because they think that it is funny to do it to someone but then when someone does it to them, they get their rage on which I think is pretty fair. (I don't know why my text is like this so spread out.) Anyways, that's basically it

Thanks for reading guys! I hope you enjoyed this and here are the links to the definitions :3. Urban and Wikipedia. I also feel my blogging is getting progressively worse D:. Anyways, I might get a lot of hate or I might not but most likely will for some reason I feel like it.

I think I should DIAMOND this blog because it was a great read but a FAVORITE will make me not forget this blog but then again that's if I really enjoyed it and I could even SUBSCRIBE if I want to see more of his submissions.
