Birdsong rang its way through the windows of my apartment. Golden rays of the sun shot through my room as my eyes adjusted to the light. It was time for another regular day at work. Yet I couldn’t get out of bed just yet, the heavy warmth was just too comfortable. I didn't have to get up yet, did I? My mind was drifting back into unconsciousness when the horrid shrill of the alarm clock pieced its way into my skull. After committing various methods of physical abuse against the device, it was time to go about my morning routine. Coffee, check. A warm shower, check. Suit and tie, check. Everything was going according to plan as I left for work.
As soon as I stepped out of my apartment, a massive shadow swept its way over the city. The night-time lights quickly came on, but not fast enough. Several cars had managed to collide with each other in those few brief seconds. I barely heard the commotion of the whole city leaving their houses as I looked up into the sky. The clouds that once provided some degree of shade were swept to the side like Moses and the water. Many loud screams echoed through the streets before I could properly recognize what was looming over the world. I could barely recognize a face of deep blues and purples in the massive shadows. With little warning the ground shook violently beneath my feet, throwing me to the ground. The buildings around me wailed and groaned under the strain. The earthquake quickly stopped and the being overhead left, but in doing so it left another surprise in the sky. Massive planets filled the air, and I felt like I could jump higher than ever before. My ears painfully popped as the air around me rapidly thinned out. Recovering myself, I glanced to where everyone else was pointing. In the middle of the other planets that now filled the morning sky sat a massive chair, or what looked like one at least. The being we saw from earlier was seated in front of us, staring down on humanity.
