How Do I make An Amazing Texture Pack??

Well, I haven't made any amazing packs yet, but I have made some cool textures. I used a variety of programs, but the best one by far way GIMP

GIMP- www.gimp.org/

Another cool one was called Seashore- which works on the mac, but it is stil no as awesome as GIMP. Here's the link seashore.sourceforge.net/The_Seashore_Project/About.html

The thing that distinguishes both of these programs are their ability to create cool textures with the tools they have in them. GIMP has lots of smoothing brushes, and both have the magic wand.
