I'm Sure your here because you want your small minecraft community to be a big top list server full of people! Am I right? Well... sorry to destroy your thought trail, but the big servers of our time have been there for years, Overall you have to know millions of people who have minecraft Or you have to build up, now I am sure its almost impossible for someone to know one million people on a personal scale! But Its not impossible to play it smart and build up... Before i begin on how to get people on your server, I think we should run through what we shouldn't do!

NEVER Go onto other servers and spam your Ip!
It May Seem Like a smart idea at first but after a while your server will get a bad name for doing it!

NEVER Force or annoy anyone to enter your server!
As I said before, Its not a good idea... always try to think of yourself in the other persons shoes! (isn't that something parents say?)

Now that's over lets get down to the good Part, If you want players on don't do the Big NoNo's that's important... As i was saying you build up, bring some friends on or anyone you know to give you feedback and test if everything works correctly! You should never bring people On if you haven't:

Finished Your World
Finished The Coding
and Tested Everything

Make Sure everything runs smoothly and there is No bugs, even the bugs that players cant see can effect you later!

Overall you should try to get the server on any Server Website Like PlanetMC! ^^^ Click somewhere up there and add it now! But after posting, give regular updates on your servers page to bump it to the top, even if its just the odd picture or comment reply, try it and you will be astounded! Try to bring friends of friends on, form a small community but a strong one.... trust me it will be a bigger community soon!
