When we first start in Minecraft, things can be hard. I remember once I was stuck in my hut at night on a brand new world. First day, I didn't have a bed, and no logs to make charcoal for torches to go mining. And there's monsters out front? What do you do? You wait. And wait. And wait. I get the challenge of needing wool for a bed, but you shouldn't have to wait for morning because you couldn't find a sheep on the first day. That's why I think they should introduce cots! Cots would be made by putting a stick on each of the bottom corners of the crafting table, and then putting wood planks the whole way across the middle section. Cots would work just like beds, they skip you to morning, but they don't change your spawn, and they have a limited number of uses, maybe five or six, to make the game a little more difficult. Also, the radius in which monsters could be in for you to sleep could be enlarged or shortened to make the cot an easy way to skip today at the start of a load, but harder for you to use in the long run. You shouldn't have to wait because you don't have sheep in your area, so that's why minecraft needs cots.

Perhaps it wouldn't set your spawn as well.
