Part 1

I just got back from the first session of the D&D club a few hours ago.

For starters, we all got our character sheets and added some other stuff to our characters. I’m a chromatic black Dragonborn named Dragus with some smithing experience. (Part of my equipment are Smith’s Tools, Woodcarver’s Tools, and Jeweler’s Tools.) We also got our magical items. I got a Medallion of Thought. Also, forgive me if use any wrong words or terms in D&D, since I’m not that well-versed in the terminology.

Anyways, we were sent on a quest by some guy in a tavern to enter some dwarven mines and find out what happened there and if we succeed, we’ll get 20 gold pieces. Also, let me go over the players:

Duncan - Xavier, a dark elf (or so we think)
Julia - Blaze, a Ranger with a bow and the ability to summon a magical bird that stayed with us for the entire campaign (which is still not over)
Me - Already said who I was
Grayson - Ash, an assassin
Isaac - Henry, (forgot what he was)
Gage - DM, he also plays the NPCs

Anyways, we set off on our quest in the morning. However, as night fell, we had an encounter with a manticore! Dragus was asleep for most of the battle, and I had a chance to get up, but I rolled a 2 and stayed asleep. Then, when Henry went in to battle the manticore, but I got up towards the end when I rolled and I got a number that allowed me to get up (I forgot what I rolled) and I saved us by casting Magic Missile and clipping the manticore’s wings and burning him a bit as he flew away, killing him. Xavier collected some blood and spines, and Henry got a mane.

Then, we had a reveal. Around the start of the game, Gage and Duncan talked about Xavier’s true identity in private. Later, in the middle of manticore fight (we took a break), Duncan told Julia (technically he was telling Blaze) about Xavier’s identity. His eyes also briefly changed during the time in the tavern. And he also changed his eyes again after the fight, Then, after the fight, Xavier revealed his true identity. He’s not Xavier, and he’s not a dark elf. He’s actually a changeling named Knox.

Anyways, we continued on our way to the mountain door, and we ran into three cloaked men on the road. When the took off his hood, he revealed himself as a species I forgot the name of. Blaze hid for some reason. (I wasn’t paying attention that much.) Anyways, we had a little exchange with them and continued on our way.

Soon, we arrived at the door and had to get past two orcs. We had a few things we could do: either I could cast Sleep and knock them out, or Knox could morph into an orc and try to get in. It was either that, or we could distract them. They were saying something about shoes (again, wasn’t paying much attention), so Henry told them in Orcish (I think that’s what it’s called) he saw some shoes down the path. They left, and we entered the mines. As we went up the stairs, we noticed that there were arrow traps in the walls. I was outside, and it was my turn, so I just dashed in, but stayed away from the arrows. We made it out alive, Henry busted down the doors, and we left off on one end of a bridge, with two orcs on the other side, at the end of the room across the lava, a massive brute standing at 9 feet tall stood, ready to fight.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed that story of my first D&D game.
