The coder sensed their presence. He arose from his slumber and looked at his half-glorious code. He put his hand in the missing byte, sighing. The creature had been gnawing at the code for a long time, but he could not find the thing. It was growing -he could sense that.

Today would’ve been a great day, really! I had gained a pixel more of my area, so I was pretty happy. Too bad we couldn’t go through bedrock, then we’d have more space. I heard a disturbance among the crowd, another of our beings being devoured. We did that, nothing was wrong about it, more space meant more happiness. The guards were supposed to stop us from doing it, but they never did, they actually liked watching it. I did too, it was a fun event, watching who would win.
I knew a few others, and they agreed. After the lesser void died, I felt a disturbance, a strong vibration. Then the boundary below began convulsing and jittering, and for half a second it vanished. My body naturally tried to take up more space, but in this foreign world, I simply got closer to the ground. A few others were detained by the guards, but I fell into the overworld.
Something jostled me on my body, a new sense I hadn’t had before. It was as if there was a new way of detecting things. I learned these things to be sight, smell, hearing, tasting and feeling. I didn’t know why, but strands of energy came down from white puffs. Lightning. A boat was below, a giant metal fishing boat. I plummeted next to the ship, sending a massive wave in all directions. The boat was flung at a 90 degree angle, managing to throw half the people overboard.
The ocean grew an indent, since I was absorbing the water’s energy. My body quickly adapted to absorb this fountain of energy. Then I grew a guise, something void people used to conceal themselves from the void police. Mine took the form of black wool, with gold running over it, transferring energy to all my parts. The men aboard the ship didn’t react well. They instantly seized their bows and shot at me.
My senses were picking up way too much for my body to handle. The sound waves of screams punched me back, the sea spray pummeling me. I saw the light particles, each hitting me with great force, then the arrows sent out air waves, beating me to death. I was so overwhelmed by the new senses, I fell over, and the indent disappeared. I sank down into the water, watching the boat go away, and a dark shadow was cast over me."
