From the sky came a liquid gold,
A substance that was undoubtedly well-known,
The smell of pine latched onto the air,
As the drops of water trickled down the branches,
The unforgiving sting of cold set in,
Benumbing the atmosphere so no living thing could win,
The drops becoming frozen, changing into crystals made of ice
Ground being set in a pure coat of white
Until footsteps are made, destroying the calm
The figure starts to collect snow to fill their palm,
They mashed the snow together, to make two great mounds,
Then out of their cap, they revealed a small pumpkin,
Attentively placing it on top of the mounds,
Stepping back quickly without making a sound,
They watched in awe as the mounds began to move,
Turning to and fro not knowing what to do,
The figure ran away,
The mound of snow began to sway,
Under pine, the snow creature stood,
Looking around confused on how this had become,
And there it stood,
All night until dawn,
The white fluff that had covered the ground,
Was turning into eerily familiar green mounds,
The creature turned, to look out from the tree,
To see a red cap, flowing about freely,
The creature moved forward,
Towards the cap,
Until beams of light hit his frozen frame,
Causing him to wither away,
Smaller and smaller the creature became,
Taking its final glance at the cap across the way.
