Every person that has reached success in life, whether it is in career or individual growth, has had a dream at some point. At first, the dream must have seemed extremely distant and almost unfeasible, but through hard work and resilience, they lived to see the dream become a reality. It is critical for a person to consider what it is he or she wants in life, note it down on a piece of paper, and go on to attack it every day until they achieve it. This personal development project gives a critical analysis of my career aspirations, the challenges I am likely to encounter, and the ways I intend to deal with them in my professional life.
My Career Dreams
I believe a career means a succession of related jobs or actions that a person has throughout their lifetime. The progress is usually composed of the jobs done, the titles acquired, and the work undertaken for a substantial amount of time often arranged in a hierarchy of prestige. Different scholars may come up with the various definitions of the term career, but, nonetheless, they all reach the conclusion that it is a process, unlike a job, which is a one-position act. My dream has always been to become a renowned business person. Securing a job in which I will be tasked with human resource duties will greatly help me grow career-wise and eventually enable me to achieve my dream of starting a business of my own. A business venture will not only fulfill my personal ambitions of serving and giving back to the society but will also help me grow in my profession as manager.
Personal Development Plan
I fully understand that my journey toward a successful career will not be a smooth sail. Challenges are expected to emerge in the different stages of my professional growth. For example, after finishing my course study, I will be faced with the issue of getting an entry-level job to help me develop and sharpen my entrepreneurial skills. Also, my dream of establishing my own firm after having gained experience through employment may face the challenge of initial capital. Moreover, the business world is an already overcrowded place, with many people opting to venture into different sectors. The process of analyzing the market to come up with a business idea through the identification of gaps in the market can be very difficult. The notion itself has to be conceptualized to become an opportunity and eventually be implemented in the market.
There are certain KSAs that will help me deal with these challenges. These include knowledge on managing people, social skills, and ability to analyze the data. I have already enrolled for a human resource course that should help me learn how to manage the employees and run the whole business. I have also developed the ability to analyze data throughout the course of my studies, which is highly important especially when assessing market trends or carrying out research on the business. However, I need to improve my social skills. I have to learn how to interact effectively with others since most of my work will involve negotiating deals with other organizations. I intend to focus on these skills and practice them in my day-to-day activities so that I can successfully nurture them.
Challenges in the UAE
UAE is a fast-growing economic hub that houses many businesses and industries. The older people in the country faced the challenge of expanding their businesses to the international scale. As for the younger people, they have the issue of experience. The baby-boomer generation is leaving office, and the younger generation lacks skills to take on the responsibilities. Also, the women in UAE are likely to undergo challenges in taking up roles that have in the previous years been assumed to be manly. Personally, my main problem in UAE will be having a customer base both locally and globally.
Conclusively, I believe that my determination and resilience will help me ensure that my dream becomes a reality. I will work very hard and learn as much as I can to guarantee I become the best at whatever business I start. Moreover, the government is also striving to provide equal opportunities that are created for all, both the young and the old.
