Does anyone else feel that these words were created to simply being ironic as hell? All these words are directly contradictory to what they actually mean, for the reasons I have explained above, and there's probably even more words that are similarly ironic. Some people say that its because the people who created these words were just being smart, and I don't mean being a 'smart ass' but literally just being smart.
But you know what I think the reason is? Simply to torture us. I believe that these words were truly created, just to be ironic as hell. Nothing more. They weren't created because of Latin, or because of prefixes and suffixes that are related to the definition. I think they were simply created so that people could laugh at the people in the future who would sit there and squirm horribly at the irony of these words.
