Well i played some 1.8 pre lease
and got to know something about enderman :)
you can kill him with a sword he just tele's
which makes it hard to kill him
he can move blocks .

he drops a enderman pearl i dont know what it does.

it will stop him teleporting
then hit him with whatever you got
but do it fast he is faster then you :P
U have to wear a pumpkin before looking at him right?
I cant WAIT for the Whole release monday :D it might be better.
Theres no giant mushrooms yet though :( probably coming monday or in 1.9
And I havnt found ruins but the blocks ruins are made of are in creative mode in your inventory thing.
*Ruins are Strongholds* And I wonder what the Ender-Pearl is used for......
just be fast equiping it so he stays hostile
jus tbe fast equiping pumpkin
or already have it
switch to peacefull close menu .
open menu and put it back on whatever you had it.
if you dont want to do that dont get to close to him
his white eyes will take attention
so you can avoid him that way
if youre wearing a pumpkin he cant see you
or spot you so if you see him wear a pumpkin and run away
