*DISCLAIMER* This is in no way trying to offend anyone who has Youtube and PMC affiliated with each other. The purpose of this is to talk about the very famous Youtubers who get the fame off of PMC.

Hey guys, Greytopher here with another blog, coming straight at you! This time, I want to talk about the Youtube/PMC fame, the people who you all know and love posting to this site, but not really earning it.

Making it Big, But Not Earning It?

I know lots of people are spectacularly famous from Youtube. They, in some cases, are the highest level on PMC, north of 80+. You may look up to these people, since their projects, texture packs, mods, or whatever they post is simply awesome, and you wonder 'how did they do this?' Through careful observation on some youtubers, they made it big because of Youtube and their massive amounts of subscribers. Now, what I'm not saying is 'don't like those PMCers! They didn't earn it like everyone else did!' The idea of this is about looking at them in a different perspective. You can't just be one sided to judge something completely; you must know all sides of the argument/statement before making a clear decision, in my books.

So, to get back on topic: a lot of Youtubers go onto PMC to give a download for their project. How do you know this, you may ask? To be honest, I'm going off of a hunch. I don't want to offend anyone who came off of Youtube to here, so please, let me share my thoughts of some of these people. I don't want to name any names, but a lot of our high levels got that way because of Youtube. Now, I'm not saying that ALL of them got that way, only some. These some, from what I observe, aren't very... personal, or more so, you don't really know them.

All you know them for, is their projects, not their personality. Sadly, stuff like this happens. Their account could be either controlled only by them, and using it to post projects and such, or on some cases, big PMCers have 'teams' that control their account, posting what the user wants. These 'teams' have access to that account, and that account is only used for posting things.

My main problem with this: these people aren't really apart of the community. They're not involved with us, we don't know them personally, they're only there to post the download link. I find it sad, really, and ashamed aswell. These lucky people post one thing to get to level 90, while 600,000 other users have to post at least 10 pages of stuff, only to get half the level then they are. Do they really earn it, or do they abuse what they have?

This Can Also Happen Vise Versa...

What do you mean Grey 'Vise Versa'? What I mean is, this path is a two way street. On one hand, if you're a Youtuber that has a couple thousand subscribers, then you ask them to subscribe to your PMC, that could work. On the other hand If you're famous on PMC, and you're posting things on Youtube, that can work as well. I've posted a couple videos to Youtube and a chunk of my subscribers are from PMC.

I know that Oliverfrenchie has gotten famous from Youtube and PMC alike, both accounts helping each other out. He earned his way on PMC. His subcribers also consist of his PMC subscribers because he promotes his channel. If anything, this is a great idea: from when I first viewed his profile on Youtube, I think he had around 700 subscribers for over 2 years of hard work. Now, he's at 1000 and rollin' in the dough, becuase of PMC, he's grown a lot, and I'm proud of him for it. I'm not saying this is a bad thing at all, if anything, a little self promotion doesn't hurt!

Like I have said, this isn't a bad thing. Self promoting one self isn't bad, until you cross the few obvious lines of spam, harassment, ect., but we're not talking about that at this moment. The main point of what I'm trying to get at, is some people get big just by putting a download link in the description of their Youtube page that links to PMC. And, others can get big on Youtube by doing the same thing. PMC has a feature on a accounts bio by adding their Youtube link. I've done this myself, as well as other PMCers.

PMC Can Also Be a Gateway To Youtube...

As PMC is a fast growing Minecraft fansite, it can also be a stepping stone to the big league: Youtube. I know that not many have tested this out before, but if you really tried at it, and got big on PMC, promoting your work through PMC onto Youtube isn't that bad of a idea. Think about it: You've worked hard, and earned the subscription of 1000 people. You don't really know what else to do, and you've started making Youtube videos. You think about this slowly (I don't know why, maybe you're a slow thinker?) and you come up with the idea to incorporate your posts with your Youtube posts. This way, you're promoting yourself both ways: you post your PMC thing, and at the same time people can watch your video.

I find this to be a simple, and easy idea. It's efficient and you can use it to your advantage. But, some people forget their origin, their history. It helps to know where you started from. If you use this idea (which I doubt that it's not been used before) just remember where you started from, and what made you, you.

All I can really say is, is to stay true to who you started with. Anyone, and I mean anyone, has a chance to make it big, and I'm not kidding. You can be 10 or in your 30's to make it big anywhere, and all it takes is a little persistance and inspiration. Once you get rollin' though, it's hard to stop. You've got to commit to what you have, be sure not to take advantage of it, and hold on tight. It's gonna be a tough ride, whether you like it or not.

The whole youtube thing is something that is doing more good than bad. When big tubers show their projects on pmc, they bring in loads of new visitors who have the potential of joining planetminecraft + all the traffic generates more income for the guys behind planetminecraft so it's a win-win situation.

I don't care about levels and stuff and don't see a point why it even matters. If you post good things on pmc you will get people here to subscribe to your pmc etc.

Exactly what Jyles said: this post is more for the aspect of 'are they involved in the community and in what they do?' I know that you're a Youtuber yourself, and this is not direct towards you at all, since you're an active player on PMC aswell as Youtube.

Yeah, somewhat I have to agree about that, if you aren't going to reply at all when you post something here there is no point in posting it on here. I have seen this in the past which will annoy the community over here because they kinda get left out :/

Yeah, for me, I have this... tendency that makes me want to reply to as many posts as I can. I feel bad if I leave them unanswered.

Yeah but it would be nice for these people to be a part of the community that is also giving them a lot more views and stuff. I mean PMC seems to be the place that starts it all now.
