This is the beginning of my new project: recreating the World of Ruin map from Final Fantasy VI in Minecraft.

The map will be crafted at 1/5 scale (5 pixels on the map = 1 Minecraft block). The map is 4128x4128 pixels, so the completed recreation will be approximately 826x826 blocks, for a grand total of 682,826 blocks (on the two-dimensional plane; sculpting 3D mountains and landmarks will add to that).

I'll be posting periodic updates with the progress. Right now it's only just barely started: I've completed 641 blocks. So this will be a long-term undertaking.
