Hello guys and welcome to another tutorial post.

Notice:"Remember, you dono t need to read all of this blog post since ito s only a tutorial. Feel free to read whatever you are curious about. And pardon my English grammar. Be patient when you read this."

This blog can give you some tips and tricks on how you can improve your work here on PMC. Planet minecraft signs new members every day. If we focus on the people who want to make a good impact on pmc, there are 2 specific types who reach their goals. There is the member who posts decent submissions, and there is the natural talented member who posts pro submissions. These are the members who you wono t find everywhere but only on pmc. Because of them, pmc has today a guarantee of high standard minecraft work out for download.

Now leto s focus on your membership. With popularity you will gain more attention to you and your work. In some point you only need to post a submission and it gets diamonded and appreciated more than a better project in general posted at the same time. Diamonds dono t tell much, but it tells us some true facts. It tells us this member is talented, this member has friends who support him and it can tell the submission is good.

But there is so much work out there that is impressively good and not given the appreciation it deserves. What I am doing here is helping people like them getting more attention which they deserve by improving their work quality a bit more on pmc. Not every pro member is a popular member. We get new and experienced members from time to time. Sadly not many of them are recognized on pmc. We can separate the pro members and the decent members. There isno t that much difference between the sides, only a couple of margins. The pro members have some techniques and tricks up their sleeve that maybe other people are not aware of. We are going to look at some of those tricks and techniques now.

PROJECTS
Decent member: PROJECT (D): 20-->90
1) Post something good looking and useful in minecraft. Doesno t need to be that impressive or look beautiful but be creative with your builds. Need a building idea? Check out soggytractor`s blog for ideas: www.planetminecraft.com/blog/100-things-to-build-in-minecraft-10-building-styles/

2) It doesno t matter how the structure looks, always make it look good in the preview pictures. You can take some nice shots from the structure; maybe find some cool angles to take your pictures. Always take a picture of the whole structure: Front, back, sides and interior. You can choose yourself what texturepack you want to use. The building will have a better presentation with some kind of shaders mod (which makes any build look better).

3) In the project description be as clear as possible. Tell a bit about the building, maybe a short back story if necessary.

4) Always give credit to the people who have helped you with the project. Example: if you have taken pictures with a texturepack on a large scale build; credit the creator of the texturepack so you wono t have people asking you what texturepack you have used.

5) Title of the project should be nice. Name it well!

6) What are you building? Terraforming, structure building, organic builds? Doesno t matter what, make it look pretty and always put some hard working effort to it. All buildings should have interiors, terraforms should be also manually edited and not only by a program.

7) Remember to advertise.
Pro member: PROJECT (D): 100-->3000
1) Originality is the most important part when you want something to get popular. Build something that has never been built before. Pro builders already know what they can build, like: a good edited terraformed landscape with some builds on it (which is always appreciated on pmc) or maybe a good organics build. Example on some good organic builds:

2) You can always combine your expertise with someone else! They might be helpful

3) As a builder you need a lot of motivation and inspiration. My advice for you would be to check out some action movies, take a good look at some of the most appreciate architecture we got in the world, either its on google or in real life experience. Find something trendy on the internet, something that gives you motivation and something you can build. I get my inspiration from my vacation travels by looking at some amazing architecture. I also get some motivation by watching star wars :p

4) Work hard on your projects; give it some nice detailed work. Remember, 60% of the diamonds people give is mostly because of the presentation. How to make a good presentation on your project? Well here are some examples: 1) Get some good quality picture and photo techniques. Use shaders mod and texturepacks for sure. Also for larger builds use some nice render programs like o CHUNKYo 2) Title should be nice, ito s the identity of the project 3) Good and nice readable description with a clear message to the reader.4) Credit is important if there is someone to credit. Make it look as professional as you can.

Different render programs: www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Programs_and_editors/Mapping

5) Try to see the big picture, dono t just focus on what you think looks nice. Everything you make and put out should be easy for both you and player to enjoy the map.
SKINS
Decent member: SKIN (D): 20-->60
1) Skins are the easiest and for some people the most fun thing to make. So dono t be afraid to post a skin for the first time. If your first skin does well, then you got talent. Just start posting more skins and you will get more and more attention.

2) To make good skins you need original ideas, but you can do well with the usual skin ideas: Teen skins, super hero skins, themed anime skins or cartoon skins. There are many type of styles in skinning, you just need to find what fits you the best. Look up some skins, decide what is the best for you.

3) Without any shading your skin will never be popular, so shading is important. Here are 2 shading tutorial for you to look up which was made by Yuki and Potatologic:

1-www.planetminecraft.com/blog/yukis-new-and-improved-shading-tutorial/

2- www.planetminecraft.com/blog/hair-shading-tutorial-d/

4) Besides the skinning you also have to choose a title for the skin and add a description. In this case the title doesno t matter that much because we are only interested in the skin, also description doesno t matter that much either to make your skin that popular. What you can do is add a preview picture of your skin in the description with a skin photo program. You have: http://minecraft.novaskin.me/ as an option.
Pro member: SKIN (D): 80-->200
1) To make it this far in skinning you need original ideas, in general you need to make stuff that no one else has done that much before.

2) Figure out your own special style, there are so many shading styles you can learn. Check out some of pmc most pro skinners and get some inspiration:

3) Add a nice description and title, doesno t matter but it is a bonus for sure.

4) To be pro you need a good eye for skinning, it really depends on your pixel art skills.

5) Step up your game when it comes to shading. Learn shading the best way you can.

6) Add cool features to the skin which is hard to make. Use the o helmet/masko as advantage to make some dimension to the skin.

7) When skinning, you add different pixel color to a template. Think about it this way: draw something awesome on that template, dono t be afraid to break some rules when you make a skin. Dono t be afraid to do something different like adding faces somewhere it doesno t belong normally.
BLOGS
Decent member: BLOG (D): Unknown
1) When you are writing a blog it has to be creative, easy and interesting to read. Make it as short as you can.

2) Prove your point, get to a conclusion.

3) I suppose most of you have learned how to write different genres, so there is a lot that plays a part in writing a blog. But we wono t focus on that here on pmc, ito s just a bonus to make it easier for others to read your blog. It gives the blog better quality.

4) When you write a blog put in some paragraphs, description size, colors, images etc to make it more enjoyable to read.

5) The picture you are using for the blog should fit the title and the description. Credits and sources should include in a blog (if there are any)!
Pro member: BLOG (D): Unknown
1) The little difference that makes you a pro blogger is the blog content itself. You write something amazing like: a good informational blog, a good review or an interview with enough questions to read-then you wono t be too far away from becoming a great blogger.

2) As always be creative in your blogs, both in the content and what you add as animations and pictures.

3) There are so much stuff you can add to make your blog look good, but I wono t go through it all here. What you can do is get inspiration from other blogs. Make an original idea that many people would find necessary to read.
SERVERS, TEXTUREPACKS and MODS
I dono t have that much knowledge when it comes to mods, servers or texturepack. What I do know is mod ideas are easy. Just think about what people want in minecraft and add that. Ofc it is hard so you need to be a good programmer. If you want to make a texturepack you might want to get good at pixel art first or maybe post some skins and see if pixel stuff is something for you. We call texturepacks resource packs these days. Resource packs allows you to add sounds, so add nice sounds. Any texturepack will get much attention if you give it a nice new design and add some good quality pictures to the post and not just a random google picture.

Only apply for pro membership in mod making and texturepack design if you got talent, both of these minecraft submission genres are hard to make if you want to make something good. So always appreciate a mod maker, or a texturepack makero s work, they deserve it.

To make a good server post, you need a large staff, some nice banners and a good description of what the server is all about. The rest is up to the builders.

Ito s not only important to be good on the pitch, but also outside the pitch. Take your time visiting the pmc chat to meet new people and maybe advertise your work.

If you work hard and put a lot of effort into your work and you are able to drag some attention from the members, your account will reach a good standard level on pmc. Also add some nice features and a good description in your profile feed, just so people would care to follow you if they have doubts in your work.

I hope this tutorial got you thinking what you could improve or do better if you had some issues in the past. Remember, as long as you are happy and the quality is good- dono t bother what other people say.

Cya next time ;)
