Hi guys, Greytopher here, and this time I'm going to be talking about harassment in PMC. Now you may be wondering 'harassment can be stopped easily, how could it be any worse?' Well, let me explain to you multiple ways of how it could be worse, and what I would like to see improved from it.

Harassment: What does it mean?

To me, harassment means that someone (or multiple people) are bugging you about a certain topic verbally, physically, ect. To harass someone means to make them annoyed, to verbally abuse them, and so on. When I talk about harassment, a few things come to mind. I've seen a couple of acts of harassment through PMC, and as awful as it might be, little things are being done to help/improve the stop of harassment (I'm not trying to hate on the mods/Cyprezz, I just want to voice my opinion on how I think it could be made better, in easier ways). Below are some of my ideas on what holes are in blocking harassers, and what ideas could be done to stop it. Nothing too hard to implement, but I hope you enjoy what I put down. If you have ideas of your own, tell me in the comments, and I'll add the best ones to here and give credit to those who commented.

Comment Harassment

Recently, looking through the popular blogs, I saw this 9/11 blog, remembering those who were lost during the sad event. In the comments section, was a controversial comment, but stated that this person was asian, and how come they don't remember the bombings that happened in Hiroshima. Someone else responded to that comment saying "she's the enemy so it was ok to kill 140 000 of them".

Wat. Never have I ever seen a comment so revolting, irritating, and so offensive to a historical event. I personally wanted to slap this guy in the face, but decided to stay away from commenting on the post and eventually starting a bigger flame war then it already is. From a source, the person who originally posted the comment was extremely offended, and from what I know, haven't done anything about it. I know you can delete your comments, but what else is there to prevent that person from talking to you ever again? I know that you can delete comments and block someone from posting on your post, but is there any way else to block someone?

For me, I think that the site should add a feature that can block someone from seeing anothers comments, or disable someone from replying to another player. Say, you're commenting on someones submission, and someone tries to troll you. The only option you have is the 'reply' button (from what I can see). So, adding an 'ignore' button to this feature can prevent flame wars from the very beginning, block notifications, ect., and would be a useful tool to find and sort out the problem. Even though the mods are stumped with projects being reported, could there be time to report a comment? I know that the site mods have A LOT on their plates, but once the site mod family grows, could that eventually be implemented?

Although, you CAN block people through your ignore list, and not see them comment on it, it would be easier if something like this happened: So, you comment on someone elses blog saying your opinion. All of the sudden, a troller appears, and a war begins. You could ether a) continue with the war, or b) press the 'ignore button' that's right next to the reply button. For me, it would be a lot more convienient. Just an idea!

Private Message Harassment

While talking with mods/popular members of PMC, I've come to realize we all have something in common: hate mail. Now, this can vary from someone sending you a PM about a stolen skin they swear they didn't steal, all the way up to someone not agreeing with a blog you've posted (sigh). But, when I got a PM that was completely random, it caught me off guard, and made me think about what I usually do.

LrGijpg

Now, I get hate PM's all the time, but for some reason this one always haunts me. He sent me this right after I posted my Bullying blog, and he talked about his life. This message included a life long story about how his life has has been going downhill, and how he can't do anything about it. His guilt tripping mission was completed, and this infact came from a player I recently banned on a server I played for stealing someone elses work. I didn't reply to the message, but it made me think: what if I get a message like this again, but can't do anything about it? Well, let's say it did happen again, only not from this player, but from another.

This person is a stalker/fanboy, and started trolling me on the chatroom. I completely accepted what he was doing, but it got a little far when he started telling the people there that we were sexually attracted to each other, and that we're married. I blocked him over the chatroom (with the help of Jesuitical! <3), and blocked him from commenting on my posts. But he started PMing me weird things, like "my love for you is like someone elses love for someone else who they love very much and want to bone. grey, i, i love you"

For me, I was extremely weirded out, but I also figured out something at the same time, I can't actually block him, by clicking a button, for sending me a PM. I thought about putting him on my "Foes" list, but then saw this: "Foes are users which will be ignored by default. Posts by these users will not be fully visible. Personal messages from foes are still permitted. Please note that you cannot ignore moderators or administrators.' BUT, with the help of the site moderator FoxOfDoom, I was guided to show how to block someone via PM. In addition to that, it was complicated, and like she said "under the radar", meaning it should be showcased as an easy tool that everyone can see. It should be more clear on how to block someone via PM, so that people (like me) can do it with ease.

I think it should be implemented by when viewing the PM, you can either hit 'reply' or 'block'. This way, it's easier rather then scrolling through your account settings trying to find how to do it.

So, my idea for the site would be could there be a 'block this person from PMing you' button implemented on the site? I think that it would be extremely useful, especially when you have a crazed fanboy attacking you from every angle.

So, that's it for my blog!

If YOU have an idea of what can be added to stop this sort of thing, leave your idea in the comments below, and I'll add it to here!

I wish people would follow blogs like this irl, certain things that some of the idiots that I am forced to put up with day after day say... its not only hurtful, but its downright mean and they all just think its hilarious... and I am the one who gets in trouble when I crack like an egg with a yoke full of regrettable words and hate and anger... Then, they naturally think that this is even funnier and I end up in a downward spiral full of hate, anger, buttheads (the aforementioned ones), regrettable words, and the fact that I want to run away screaming and going psycho. On top of that, when I get home, my sister does not help at all, just makes it worse and then I freak out at her (and get in deep crap in the process). Just saying, it would be nice if this would apply anywhere, but sadly there is and epidemic of buttheadism in this world...

No, the blog is about different ways to stop harassment... not to help people with mod help. Anyways, I don't use many mods when I play, I wouldn't know. Go on Youtube and look for the answer.

I did not ever had the need of that function, but it's no bad idea.
Many communitiey have that function, and I think it would make it easier not to be offended.
