I have a question for you all have you ever thought that someone on the other side of the connected player could be a theif of identity? Well it could be true most likely everyone wants to steal your identity these days. Some people are real nice people to not steal identity. When you are stealing identity its a big crime! You might even get in trouble for stealing. So when you make a minecraft server you might only want your friends to be staff not anyone on the internet. Its all very complicated.

1st the identity theif will hack your server

2nd the identity theif will take your money and personal info

3rd the identity theif will put a virus on your computer

4th your computer crashes

5th you buy a new computer so just incase make sure your friends are your 1st choice as a staff member

Has this ever happen to you leave a comment and let me know

This is so stupid that I almost lost a brain cell or two. The only way that would happen is if you are brain numbingly stupid enough to believe what this post says is true. If you even consider that this could happen, it's too late for you.

Do you understand? IP addresses are basically the license plates of computers. All you need is the IP and a knowledge of hacking and you can get in. Thats why most people (including myself) use a hosting company. That and the amount of RAM. A word of advice is don't use your personal computer or a work computer. If you can't afford a hosting company use a separate computer but it still can be risky.

An IP address, if anything, is like a state flag. It cannot be used to trace where you live when used alone, and it's incredible that the OP managed to jump to that conclusion. I have spent the best part of five years training as a network security and systems administrator, I know more about how someone can get 'hacked' or 'doxxed' than most people and I have seen it happen before. Please don't tell me I have put those years of certs and training to waste.
