Ok, so I know what you all are thinking: "Then what is he, if he's not real?" "You're an idiot!" "Then explain all the photos and screenshots people have taken of him!"

Well, I'm here to put all the rumours of Herobrine existing to rest. They are true, but also false. First, let's take a look at some things that people always get their trousers in a knot about when it comes to proof of Herobrine.

1. The occasional "Removed Herobrine" text in some update notes

This is the first thing that most people point to when asked how they know Herobrine exists. And this is also one of the most overused excuses that he exists. First thing, "Herobrine" is not in the codes himself, but the codes for the unimplemented, unfinished Human mob that had the default player texture are. They were also hostile, meaning they would attack the player on sight. They also didn't have nameplates. This is where we get the idea that Herobrine doesn't have a nameplate. they could also be re-textured so that their eyes were pure white. This is where the idea that Herobrine has no eyes comes from. Mojang has had to remove this mob on numerous occasions, since they didn't like the idea of having another hostile mob that killed the player over and over, since that was the Creepers' job (Also, Herobrine attacking players was never part of any of the creepypastas you've read, is it? He's always just watching the player from a distance, right?). So, they took it out. That's why it says "Removed Herobrine" sometimes in the update notes.

2. Photos and Screenshots of Him

I have probably seen millions upon millions of pictures and screenshots saying that the person who took them "caught Herobrine on film/photo". I've taken a look at a few of them, and especially one in particular. Look below and you can see it for yourself. The real story behind this picture is an Iron Door. Yes, you read that right. It's a re-textured Iron Door made to look like Herobrine (you have to look really closely at the photo, but it is there, trust me. How can you tell that it's an Iron Door, you ask?
Well, look closely at the body. It isn't angled so that the player can see the sides of the so-called Herobrines' legs, arms, and head. Also, for it to really be another person or entity, it would have to be able to look directly at the player, which, in this case, the supposed "Herobrine" doesn't. It seems like he is staring off at something in the distance, rather than directly at the player. This further proves the fact that Herobrine doesn't exist.

3. Server Sightings

I've heard from many people that they have seen the mythical player on servers, typing in the chat log, "WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?" and things of that nature. My only explanation (as I have had this happen before on a server where the staff liked being Supertrolls) is that the admins are giving you a hard time. Also, check to see if this Herobrine has a nameplate. If it does, then it's most likely a staff personnel trolling you. If it doesn't, check to see if the server has a Herobrine plug-in installed, as that may be the cause, or, quite possibly, you're just drunk and playing Minecraft for some weird reason.

I hope this clears up some of the rumours going around that Herobrine exists. So the next time someone tells you they saw Herobrine, just laugh and show them this proof that he's fake.

i believe in herobrine, but not that he is a ghost or something bot rather that he is a coding bug that was somehow added to the game
