How to Become Popular on YouTube!

Hey guys, I've compiled a list of tips and tricks to help you get popular on YouTube! I've divided them into two sections, Tips for Lets Players/Gamers and Tips for Short Film/Video makers. Enjoy!

Tips for Lets Players/Gamers:
  1. Purchase a good quality mic. No one wants to hear distorted, crackly commentary.
  2. Take the time to adjust the levels and position of your mic before recording. This is to prevent your mic being too soft or too loud.
  3. Make sure your computer can run Minecraft or other games while recording at at LEAST 60 FPS. Laggy lets plays turn away viewers/potential subscribers.
  4. Tell your family, roommates, etc that you're going to be recording before you start. Background noise in lets plays is annoying.
  5. Do something entertaining in your lets play. Playing in a normal, singleplayer survival world is sure to leave your viewers snoring.
  6. Have fun while recording! If you're just doing for the subscribers or popularity, you shouldn't be doing it at all.

Tips for Short Film/Video makers:
  1. Purchase or borrow a camera that can record at 720p.
  2. NEVER use a cell phone to record. The only exception to this tip is the iPhone 5 when recording in the correct aspect ratio. (phone turned sideways) The iPhone 5 has a very good quality camera, it is my primary camera when filming.
  3. Make sure you are filming in a location with minimal background noise. If you are inside, turn off air conditioning or other "humming" devices. If outside, avoid filming near roads when possible.
  4. Make sure you can always hear your actors in the recording, and remind them to deliver their lines loudly. When mumbling is needed in a script, don't actually mumble, just act like you are.
  5. Purchase a quality recording software. I suggest Final Cut Pro. Never edit videos with Windows Movie Maker unless it is your ONLY option.
  6. Once again, have fun! If you're not, it will show in your acting.

I find your blogs quite derpy, What i mean is that in your "Macs are gaming Computers" blog i found you changed it halfway to "Macs are Better Than PCs" blog.
And in this blog i found it like ever other blog, also some people dont have the money for good mics...what i mean is that a good youtube vid in my opinion, is to entertain...

This is very true, being entertaining is the best way to get popular on YouTube. As for my other blog, I am very biased towards Macs and it did sort of change subjects. Please consider resubscribing, I will take this advice into account in all of my future blogs. Edited this blog to add your advice.

my friend uses a phone and it turns out well...also he uses a mac built in mic and it works fine...also 50 fraps still works, it sounds like your enforcing a 60fps must...also whats the point in adjusting your mic. i rarely do and communicating with friends is fine and easy, and lets plays are about the story mode normally (SIngleplayer)

50 FPS is fine, I just said 60 FPS because that is a smooth framerate plus a little room if you get a lag spike.
