Well first make your house and bulid a big wall around it. Make sure the wall has a door to get it. But this wont keep out spiders so make a mote around your house. on the inside of the mote add cactuses all around the house this will keep spiders out. Now finaly use TORCHES. light light no mobs spawn. You try this its easy to do and doesnt involve expensive materials like diamonds.
