Making a very good faction is sometime hard but first, make your faction with "/f create <faction name>".
if you want do "/f desc <insert description here>". now claim 1 chunk of land. the first dangerous part is digging down. however, here you only have to dig down a few blocks. but you should cut down a tree or 2 and have atleast 8 logs. make a crafting table, and pickaxe. dig down about 7 blocks and then mine out a space that is 3 blocks high, and make the room an entire chunk of the claimed land. it may be dark so make a furnace and place your crafting table wherever you want. now make some charcoal with a log make some torches to mobs dont spawn and then make a ladder. at the top of the hole you dug, put 1 block of cobblestone on each side (not corner) make a trapdoor and put it on any cobblestone block. to increase chance of survival, go far away from spawn so you dont get attacked as easily. this is the first part of survival. the next part may be complicated...

for the second part, start your mine. but you should get another tree if you need to. make the logs into charcoal. now you should have a decent amount of torches. keep on mining and making your base bigger with cobblestone. usually its best to have your land 4 chunks, including the chunk you already have. you now have the start to a great faction.
