Hola, and welcome to Learn Redstone in 50 Tutorials, part 3. This whole tutorial is on torches, and not the one for your mine! These are the torches that Herobrine uses. Just kidding:3! These torches will power your circuit. In the last tutorial, you learned all about repeaters. A repeater can have a delay and is crucial to almost all creations! These torches areo ¦ Redstone torches! Anyway, now to the tutorial :D.
Redstone torches can be placed on top and to the side of blocks. If a torch directly touches anything that can be powered, it will. Now there is an exception. If a Redstone torch powers a regular block (Solid Block) to the side, without any repeater or wire touching it to the block, then there will be no power going into that block. Now, to more easy stuff, if the block a torch is on is powered, the torch will turn off. A lot of times, the following is called an inverter:

Explanation of an inverter:
An inverter is made when Redstone power is entered into the block the torches on. The difference with this is you dono t need a repeater. An inverter is used in cases like a piston door, where when you press a button, the door opens.
Now, here is a tip. Unless you know what you are doing, never place a Redstone wire on top of the block the torches on, and then place a block on the torch. Also, another thing is that even redstone torches have a 1 o ticko delay. Although Redstone torches cannot have their delay set, you need to keep that in mind for timing actions. Lastly, Torches power will flow to the block directly above them and then can have an export power that way.
