Did you know that there’s theories on the Nether being radioactive?
I did not, until about a year ago, when I stumbled on a random 3-minute-long youtube video that explained the idea of a nuclear Nether.
What I found interesting, is just how well this theory fits with other theories I had at the time, and still have now.
The theory states that basalt is made from radioactive rocks and made from radioactive lava (I didn’t know lava could be radioactive until doing research for this, I now am even more afraid of the gooey cheese).
What’s more, the radioactivity is referenced in sound effects from both the Warped Forests, and from the Basalt Deltas.
Radiation would also explain why the nether is so hot, and why official novels say the Nethers’ mobs are in constant agony.
Assuming this theory is true, I wish to build off of it.
I would like to add on to this theory, saying that the Piglins are a mutant spawn caused by the lava.
As stated by a previous blog of mine, I believe that the Heroes and the Builders were at war with each other in the Nether.
What if the Piglins aren’t natural, but instead are mutated Heroes‽
Picture this; the Heroes are in bastions, eating pigs for food, and slowly the Heroes devolve into pig-like anthropomorphs.
This theory explains why Piglins (former Heroes) hate Wither Skeletons (former Builders), and it also explains why the Piglins want so much gold.
The Piglins want gold because of its healing properties. Gold can be crafted into potions of healing, and into powerful golden apples, so it only makes sense that the Piglins would want it in order to try reversing/slowing the agonising transformation.
Although the idea of mutation is cliche and weird in the context of Minecraft, I still think this theory of mine has merit, and I implore you, reader, to dwell on it. I love this new thumbnail design! Also, don’t take my word for canon, try making up your own theories. Happy lore-ing!
