Chapter two: Mans best friend

I rushed over to the wolf despite my injury.
I couldn't leave him, I couldn't let him die.
I checked what I had in my pocket, hoping there would be something useful.
Something, Anything.
Anything that can help, but all I had was a piece of bread and a half explored map.
So I gave the wolf the piece of bread, hoping he'll get better.
It wasn't much, but it will have to do.
As I look at the wolf, I grew more curious.
Wondering what had happened, why it happened but this time I didn't try.
I didn't want to remember, I didn't want to relive the hell that went on here.
I was still bleeding from the arrow wound, I did all I can to help the wolf under these circumstances.
Now it was time to tend to my wounds.
I ripped up some cloth from my left sleeve and tied it around the wound.
It reduced the amount of blood loss substantially.
Not enough to start doing cartwheels, but it was enough to move my arm freely.
Coincidentally, as I felt better so did the wolf.
I was relieved.
He jumped at me in gladness, barked in joy.
It made me happy.
I notice a collar around his neck, with a name.
"Rex, why does that name seem so familiar" I murmured.
Rex obviously knew me so I asked "how would you like to tag along with me Rex".
It was pointless to ask because he couldn't speak, but Rex barked in such a manner, as if he was accepting my offer.
I was glad, I had a companion.
He wasn't up for conversation but I didn't feel so alone.

Survival took first priority, The things that had caused all this destruction were probably close.
We had to get away, we had to leave before they came back.
I still didn't know what happened there, but I wouldn't want this to be my first memory.
I had a new life, unburden by my past.
so we left hoping never to come back to this scene of destruction.
hoping to never go through that again, what ever that was.
