Hey guys! Waffles here! Today I will be talking about people creating rants. Now, for those of you that are new to PMC, rants are blogs where a member takes a certain topic and rants about it. It seems nowadays that 90% of these rants are that Minecraft is not the same game as it was when it first came out.. well DUH. You see, some people are suggesting that because more and more things are being added, Minecraft is beginning to lose its "Open-World-Nature" feel. They say that Mojang should remove things from the game to make it better.

I think the reason why it has changed is that Mojang is constantly experimenting with different mechanical elements to enhance the experience of the game for players. They will probably make some mistakes and they will change things, but I don't think change is a bad thing. Think of it as everyday life- No matter how used you get to something, it will all change eventually.

So, this was a pretty short blog because I didn't want to go on about it that much. Otherwise, it would be a rant and this would be a contradiction. Longer blogs coming soon and more projects on the way!

i agree with you sir waffle even though i somethimes think back to those days gone by. and think evrything was better in the past. but you know minecraft is changing all the times and it also brings good things and i think that minecraft wouldn't be as pupulair as it is if it didn't update ones in while

it would get boring and i always have to force myself to not get a snapshot and look what is coming.
(tip also try that to just not search what is new on the update thing and not download a snapshot but just open mc and see woah new update let's walk around in try to find evrything that is new.

lol this comment is ways to long XD

This is a pretty common topic and it seems like most times it comes up a lot of people treat it like it's an all or nothing deal. Most players don't love or hate every single change just because it's a change. In reality there are quite a few changes in every update, many of which are avoidable; things you aren't FORCED into, and players want to use these. I love the new skinning with the snapshots, I love command blocks, I love the new item tags, all of which are optional. However, many new changes are huge and something you're forced into using. Take jungles for instance. There's no way to just disable them. They, however, make huge changes to the landscape and are VERY difficult to build something on, and pop up quite frequently now. Some people don't want to deal with them, myself included. Many new features are game-changing and are difficult or impossible to avoid. Instead of putting them in an official mod or something, you HAVE to use ALL of them. You either take all or nothing.

It's not just nostalgia either. Does playing on older versions give me nostalgia? Yes. Is it the one reason why I like them? No. Then, there was little content you were forced into besides the simple base game. You didn't NEED to play with all kinds of things you were forced into every update. And if you wanted this gamechanging content,  there were plenty of unofficial mods for it, many of which are excellent. (The Aether, Mo' Creatures, Pistons, etc) Now, however, the base game has been radically changed, and you're forced into more content than ever, rather than it being optional. Most people don't want to stay on an old version, but the newer updates are forcing more and more content in rather than making such optional.

To be hontest... It's all just nostalgia, people miss their nooby days of not knowing how to do certain things. Also if we had no more updates... the game actualy would get boring very fast.

I almost like all the changes Mojang made in Minecraft, usually there are only a few changes, because most updates contain a lot of new features. Some are more obvious (like horses) some are less (like the gamerule command which disables random tick block updates). The only thing I miss is that you can now sleep in a bed wherever you go and never get attacked by mobs like you did in the past. This way MC was a bit harder, and I enjoyed that extra challange, but well ok, sometimes it's practical, it really depends on from which angle you view certain changes to get a certain opinion.

True. I honestly wasn't a big fan of the biome continuity in 1.7, but with the 1.8 snapshot now you can tweak the world generation however you want, so that's cool!

Totally agreed! I like the new changes in Minecraft... sometimes I don't see how people don't like them. ;)

I agree with you. Video games change as they go, and Minecraft is doing a great job at that. I don't think that this should be a problem at all. If they didn't change, Minecraft would be boring.
