This is a subject that most people have the most hard of a time. For me i sucked when i first came to Kill other people in fractions and i would always end up losing in the end of the battle. But one person taught me how to kill. First of all if they have diamond and you don't, don't even try to kill them. Second when your fighting try to move back and forward after each hit. If you do this then you have more likeability to avoid them hitting you after you hit them. What tends to work for some people which i don't know how they like it is they jump. They say it makes the person lag out or just lose sight where you are. In my case i hate jumping and hitting. It is a bad way to pvp. Also before going out and killing people try to get the best Stuff you can like diamond armor or diamond sword.
