Thanks for reading my other rants! Here is another one!
Well, my computer is being pretty stupid preventing me from being able to play Minecraft, but before my computer spazzed out I remember having a few complaints about servers.
Here we go!
NO RESOURCES:
This refers to Vanilla MC servers
Ok, so if you are like me, or most people that play minecraft, you want to go find some trees to punch so that you can get crafting and then be able to survive the night. The problem with a lot of servers though is that there are no freaking trees or they are only in areas admins can use. Plus sometimes, you have to walk forever to get out of the 'admin' zone and then you end up lost, starving, and pretty soon dead.
All vanilla servers need to have some sort of a plugin to replace resources. It's no fun if you are constantly dying because you can't find anything to help you survive. I mean seriously, come on admins, it's basically your job to keep the server running nice and smooth. Do something about the lack of resources so that everyone can have a good time, not just you!
I had to live in a hole for days before I finally found wood. That was not a good server experience.
PAY TO USE:
I know a lot of servers need funds to keep running but what I hate are the gimmicks.
'Pay us to get unlimited diamonds,' 'Pay us to get TF2 classes no one else has,' 'pay us to get virtual MC cash that you can spend on game items instead of crafting them.' and etcetera.
I will donate money to a server if I enjoy the server, using these dumb 'give us money' crap makes me want to not play the server and therefore I will not donate to it. All you need to do is host a fun server, politely ask for needed donations and I will donate some of my money because you are being awesome. Not because you are trying to manipulate me.
GRIEF:
Grief is part of every server, it sucks and it's stupid, but people will always grief. However, I've played on few servers that actually do something about grief.
I think all servers need some sort of land claiming functions where only you and admins can touch the land you've claimed but a lot of the times those commands are only available for admins. I understand this so that you can't go crazy claiming things, but what about the fact that admins aren't always online.
There needs to always be a way to stop grief. Be that plugins to claim stuff or plugins to reverse grief. If you are going to run a server always make sure you have those plugins.
Plus, if any of you are server admins, listen to people that say they've been griefed. I can't tell you how frustrating it is when I am trying to ask an admin for help because I've just been griefed and they don't believe me or just plain ignore me.
Yeah, I won't play on that server again.
PS if you grief, it needs to stop, it ain't funny, it's annoying. Go on a troll server, don't just bug people trying to play the game.
UGLY WORLDS:
So, when a lot of people play on a server, the world starts to get pretty messed up. There are holes everywhere, broken buildings littering the area, and all these random blocks just floating around. I hate this.
I want to go onto a nice looking server ready for me to start exploring and crafting. Instead I have to watch the ground to make sure I don't fall into a random hole someone has dug.
I think that admins should be responsible for cleaning up servers too. I mean, come on, they have all the commands in the world! I'm sure one can get a server looking nice and new again. Personally I won't continue to play on a server like this.
Also, if you are one of the jerks that leave all your holes and crap lying around all over the world just stop. Pick up after yourself.
Servers are still pretty fun though, whether you are playing Vanilla, TF2, Hunger Games, CTF, etc. there are good, fun servers that don't have any problems like the one's mentioned above.
My advice: explore around, don't just stick with one server if you aren't happy with everything. Ask your friends, your neighbors, your pets, the internet what are good servers to play on and don't settle for any crap you don't like.

I laughed at the part that said, "Ask your friends, neighbours, and PETS. xD
There are a number of reasons why people don't donate, so it's not fair to separate Minecraftians based on that. (i.e., you want to donate but don't have spare money, you don't want to spend money on a server, you don't trust that the people will use your money for the server, you're a kid and you parents say "no", and others)
NO RESOURCES:
I was able to add a feature where forest spread when the server notices resources are low, this means a piece of land with only one tree in the next day can become a huge forest (even with some custom new trees) they spread similar to how grass blocks spread. And we also have custom giant caves generate which are resource rich.
PAY TO USE:
This was something he barley were able to over come we do have a VIP rank and packages players can buy, but the VIP rank does not get advertised as much and we still get alot of happy normal members. VIP is also quite cheap compared to other servers where its $30 on mine its $9.
GRIEF/Ugly Worlds:
This is probably a problem in all servers sadly we are limited on what we can do, the grief problem we have got down, we have a system where when a user is griefed/sees a grief they make a ticket and when the next admin is online they take a look at it, they also try to fix the ugly land problem too but for a world that is over 1000s of blocks radius it can be hard.
Your server sounds pretty sweet! I'm so glad you were able to overcome those problems! :D
If you want to put your server ip down I would be happy to have an awesome-sounding server advertised here!
