I look back to my times on PMC last year, and they were good times. Times were a majority of the projects, skins and other submissions were top quality. Times when chat was a fun place to be. Times when there were genuinely interesting topics on the forums. Alas how times have changed.
It seems like almost every day now that a high profile member leaves PMC. And you know what, I don't blame them. PMC has sunk into a sorry state. And thato s what this blog is about. You see I was one of the people who left too, and then the other day i thought to myself, "No, why should I stand by as one of my favourite websites sinks into a pit of ruin" So here I am, Io m back, to try and save PMC. Maybe I alone cannot do a thing. Maybe Io m just peeing against the wind here, but hell, at least I can say I tried. And Io m not alone. I write to you today representing a group of small, but high profile members who want to save PMC, who want the glory days of PMC back. When there wasn't an argument in chat every 5 minutes, when the submissions weren't overflowed with junk, when the community felt more whole. And most importantly of all, a time when the site was a fun place to be.
One of the major problems (at least what we see as a problem) is the chat. Chat used to be a fun place to hang about, have a chat, and just generally have a laugh. No more. A quick excursion into chat nowadays shows people having secluded conversations, icon spam, people advertising servers, people advertising over and over again, arguments breaking out everywhere, and mod suckups. These are some of the worst characters in chat. Kissing mods ass, desperately attention seeking. And you know what the worst part is; the mods give it to them. Not all of them, Io ll admit, but quite a few do. And they end up getting power and influence, lording it over other members that they are more important, which is far from the truth. But one of, if not, the worst part of chat is when mods abuse their power. Several mods (no names) i know to have abused their power. And before you accuse me of having a baseless claim, i have evidence. The problem with mods abusing their power is that when someone mentions it, the mod threatens that person with a ban, and when asked why, the mods use the excuse of Rule 0: The moderators ruling is final. This gives the mods breathing space to abuse their power and get away with it. I've heard of this happening several times, and people shouldn't stand for it. What is the point of instating mods if they just abuse their power. Isnt one of the points of being a mod to set an example for others. Yeah, great example, swear, abuse, and just generally break the rules, and then get away scot free.
This leads me nicely onto my next topic, the general lack of mods and chat mods. Some members feel forced into basically modding the chat themselves, to prevent arguments from breaking out left right and centre. This is not how it should be. Rumours have circulated for a long time about new chat mods being added, yet no new ones ever seem to be added. There are 3 chat mods that I know of. With the exception of Draco Dragon, I have only seen the other 2 twice apiece. I know that forum and site mods can also moderate the chat, but they also have the duty of safeguarding the forums and checking reports. I can see no good reason as to why there are no new mods, so why haven't we got them?
The last part of the rant is on the forums. A random look in the most recent posts on the forum used to show all sorts of interesting topics. Serious questions, general but fun discussion, people seriously discussing stuff. Nowadays 9 times out of 10 it will show over half of the top 20 being server staff applications, the rest being rp threads, faction applications, and other boring topics. Occasionally a gem of a topic will pop up that will genuinely interest me, but only rarely, maybe only once every few days. When did the forums get so boring? There seems to be a genuine lack of intelligent conversation nowadays, the forums used to be my favourite part of the site, now i find it drab and boring. Well, anyway, thats my rant over, i know that people will probably pass this by and not care, but hopefully a few people will actually care enough to pay attention

On a final note, i know that im almost certainly gonna get flamed. Any inflammatory comments WILL be deleted without warning, regardless of status.

Update #2 : by rageman96 04/25/2012 5:28:44 amApr 25th, 2012
Ok, well for some reason it looks like half of my comments are gone, and its gonna take ages to redo them, so ill assure you all ive taken all your points in. :)
(Apart from the one troll comment, just an FYI to the person who wrote that, if i do a blog about the sliding standards of PMC's community, telling me to shut up and get off the site probably isnt the best way to prove me wrong.)

That's not even a project. Oh wait! Isn't that the stolen Honeydew skin you referred to in another one of rants?!? This was obviously made by a child that doesn't know what they're doing. Things like THAT are the reason the site has spiraled downward.
