Hey guys, Greytopher here with a... rant? Throughout the past couple of years, major things have been going down in our history. Y2K has happened, serious diseases, and now, what's this? A calender that supposedly says that our civilization as we know it is coming to an end on December 21st, 2012? Hah. No. For those of you who may argue with me, this is meant to be a joke, poking fun at the 'end of the world'. I'm not saying it will end, jeesh.
The History (to set things straight)...
So, back before the majority of us were probably born, people discovered Mayan ruins. Mayans, being a super old civilization back before we came to the 'New World'. They discovered this calender, which has a date from their time all the way up till now, having thirteen cycles in the process (like how we have 12 months in a year). They predicted things happening in space and what-not, but what really scares people, is that it ends (for my timezone, anyways) tomorrow.
THE WORLD IS ENDING TOMORROW? No. Not in the slightest bit. But, you've been hearing it all over the internet, from your friends and family, so it must be true. Wrong again. You see, December 21st, 2012, is the ending of the 13th cycle on the Mayan calender. That does not mean A) the human civilization will be wiped out with a tsunami of blood, B) the world will be destroyed by the sun, or C) anything that involves the world blowing up/ending.
What it says in history (what we think we've deciphered from their language), is that when the 13th cycle ends, new life begins. From what I know, it does not say the world will end. That is a bunch of crap, my friend. Scientists say that there is nothing to worry about, there's no strange activity going on, no meteor close to hitting the earth, or anything of that matter. The world isn't ending.
How Do You Know it Isn't Ending?
There are tons of theories that disprove that the world isn't ending. I for one, believe in science. I listen to the scientific authority who's answers to these questions make sense. NASA has a good response to the world ending from anything hitting it from outer space.
As far as we know, we haven't expereinced anything supernatural. I mean, it's not like your cousin Louis saw a UFO flying around, but noone was around to see it, oh no, we don't have any proof that anything supernatural has really happened. We mostly have an explanation for everything. So why would the 21st of Decemeber of 2012, that the Mayans, an ancient civilization that's technology deprived, predict something so unreal? Have we seen a huge wave of blood? A sun flare that will kill us all? I didn't think so.
Look, I could go on and on about how it isn't ending, but it really needs to point to the solid facts. Professionals have proof that it wont end. That what the Mayans said will more then likely NOT happen. So keep calm, stop freaking out, and let's get onto our lives. We just need to wait for the next ancient civilization to tell us when the world's going to end.
But How Does This Relate to Minecraft? (Have fun with it, too!)
Well, depending if the world ends or not, that means you will no longer be able to play Minecraft!... or any game, for that matter. You'll be a charred body from the sun's rays, anyways. I've posted this blog because of what I've heard through out the Minecraft/PMC community. People going on rants on what they think how the world's ending, on how they'll spend their last days, or stuff like that. I want to set it straight to those who somehow truely believe that this event will somehow happen.
Maybe, we could have fun with it in Minecraft? What if you made an adventure map relating to December 21st, 2012? Or, to go into detail, start out in a city, like San Fransisco, or New York, or just a place that has skyscrapers. Make a story out of it, then all of a sudden, meteors are hitting the earth, tsunamis are slamming against our beaches, ect. I think that'll be a fun thing to do. It'll poke fun at something that'll never happen, and give us your insight on how this event will occur.
Spend your 'last moments' with your minecraft friends. Play on a survival map, screwing around with World Edit, or Voxel sniper. I'd recommend, if you want to make it look like meteors are hitting the earth, type in the command //brush sphere netherrack,obsidian,bedrock 10. With that, you should have some fun with screwing around on a creative server!

So, it's the 21st, a wave of blood hasn't killed me, nor a sun flare, a comet, an earthquake, or all that crap.
