Okay so I was actually wondering when they are going to release the next update. I've heard talk about Notch adding the following-
-Piston mod
-Adventure mode (I don't think this is similar to Adventure Craft, but there is also talk about it coming out in 1.8 instead)
-Addition of the Herobrine (He's back from beyond the grave!)

But that's all just talk.

Yea adventure mode will be in 1.8. Pistons however will be added this thursday in 1.7
