For this round, following the theme of "silence," I challenged myself to tell a story using no words whatsoever. When thinking about what kind of story I could tell in photoessay form, I focused on the sign in the inspiration image that said "are you lost?" While there are a myriad of ways that my entry could be interpreted, let me present my version. This is a series of photos that I took with my phone over a span of about four years. I think that a big part of how we view and interpret the world is through color, so I removed the color to make the photos more ambiguous. Thus, to understand the photos, the viewer must use context clues, giving almost a feeling of "lost." Furthermore, I interspersed photos from a variety of places, including cities, natural landscapes, and everything in between. This, in my mind, confuses the viewer, breaks the context of the "story." By titling my entry "are you lost?" I frame the entire collection of photos, rather than letting them be autonomous as an art blog.
