Hello there ladies and gentlemen!  Week in Review is back!  To all of you who stood by me and fought for me in the past few weeks, I say thank you!  Now, let's get right back to it.  I've got a lot to show you guys this week.

The best structure of the week was The Red Planet, built by HypixelBuildteam.  This is basically a desolate landscape on Mars.  Hidden within one of the vast craters on the planet’s surface is a mining facility.  This is an extremely intricate and complex build with many features.



The heart of this martian complex is a rocket ship in mid-takeoff.  Above this shimmering space craft, are a few aircrafts buzzing about in seemingly random disarray.  I’m not sure why they have helicopter blades, since Mars doesn’t really have an atmosphere to provide any aerodynamic stability.  Maybe this isn’t Mars at all, but rather a distant planet that bears similarities.



And then we have the main complex.  It’s an amalgamation of metallic plates and tubes, with a radio dish and many other small details that provide additional character.  Though, I doubt the radio dish gets very good reception at the bottom of the crater.  It’s definitely a fortified and all-around epic-looking structure to say the least.



And then below the surface, there are subterranean passages and caves, complete with mining equipment galore.  It takes the definition of ‘mining’ in Minecraft to a whole new level, one that transcends the norm of pickaxes and creepers.  The amount of attention each piece of machinery was given is exemplary.



Jutting from the walls and ceiling of the cave are jagged bones, and green slime oozing from some unknown source.  I guess they’re mining for martian dinosaur fossils.  Very clever, HypixelBuildteam, very clever.  I can’t wait for the inevitable sequel: The Lost Planet - Jurassic Park.



This is a build with a very clear theme, and one that provides the viewer with a lot to discover.  It’s fun, yet refined; a build that I won’t forget any time soon.

This week, there was a terraforming project that set new standards for the category.  It’s a build titled Peaceful Cherry Valley, created by Owls and Plutouthere.  This isn’t a massive 16k landscape, but rather a very condensed nugget of terraforming goodness.



Peaceful Cherry Valley resembles one of those spacious, delicious-looking rooms in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.  Everything looks whimsical and edible, though inevitably full of trans-fat.  Weight watchers, avert your eyes!



The map’s centerpiece is a massive tree with leaves that have a color scheme consistent with a strawberry shortcake.  A massive spiral is wrapped around the tree’s base, providing living quarters to some hermit that has made this valley his/her home.  It’s like a more modern take on the Keebler Elves’ cookie factory.



The grassy plains are emblazoned with bright pink symbols that seemingly light up.  When you look at this map from a top-down perspective, you can see a beautiful radial symmetry that is guaranteed to blow your mind.  Actually, now that I look at it, it does kind of resemble a crop circle.  Of course, now it all makes sense; this map is a sign of the COMING ALIEN APOCALYPSE!!!  Oh, wait, never mind.  I already did that blog this week.  False alarm.



It’s not easy to create a map this vibrant, while also maintaining a level of subtlety, but this does a good job at it.  Though the rolling plains bear a resemblance to tie-dye, it still looks marginally realistic.



Overall, I think this terrain bears a vivid, phantasmagorical atmosphere.  It’s a shining example of outside-the-box terraforming, and I hope this inspires others to fully utilize the color palette.  Realism be damned, I can get used to living in a pink paradise.

This week, I saw an incredibly high level of organic work.  Among the steampunk owls, and T-Rex pop-up books, there was something incredible beyond words.  The best organic work of the week was The Ultimate Duel, created by moustafa74.  The name doesn’t disappoint; this is truly the ultimate duel.



What we have here is a battle of titans.  On the left, a horse-mounted archer.  On the right, a dragon-mounted, spear wielding maniac with a cape and an axe.  The stage on which they fight is what I can only describe as immense, vivid terraforming of the ages.



This is basically 5 projects in 1, and the amount of effort that was put into it is seemingly limitless.  The horse with bushy tail, flurried mane, reins, and saddle is magnificent.  It’s amazingly lifelike, and the rearing pose is flawless.  I don’t even like horses, but this makes me wonder if maybe I should.



Atop the horse sits an archer armed with a bow and arrow, and throwing a spear.  The bow, in and of itself, is pretty impressive, but the hyperrealistic pose of the horseback figure is undeniably awesome.



The archer’s adversary is a menacing figure with spear drawn and axe in hand.  Behind him, a golden cape flutters in the breeze.  The simulated movement of the cape is extraordinary, and looks about as realistic as it possibly could.



And, of course, who can ignore the ominous wyvern, perched atop the mighty cliff.  Teeth barred, wings extended, it almost seems like an unfair battle for the archer.  The dragon, in and of itself, probably would have won Week in Review.



This epic battle of the ages takes place in a vast, mountainous, marshland region.  Only fitting that a battle of this caliber should take place in such a wondrous arena.  The sandy texture of the mountain ranges offers an appropriate backdrop to some amazing organic figures.



But it is the action, the ferocity, and the power of the scene that really defines this amazing project.  It feels not like a model of a duel, but rather a freeze frame of a duel.  It doesn’t take much for the imagination to fill in the gaps and bring this scene to life.  Truly, this is one of the best organic projects of all time.  Well done, moustafa74, well done.
