When All Hell Broke Loose
My life began thrown from the clouds,
My beginnings humble, still I’m proud.
Then Master came and made me into me,
For there is none more honorable than He.
I threw snowballs at any of those who encroached,
We destroyed, at least maimed, any who approached,
The Master’s land, our station his home,
All until winged Death was flown.
One day, I was patrolling the western front,
My snowball ready to kill any I found on the hunt,
But something strange happened, dawn never came,
For the horizon itself became drenched in flame.
Fearing that Master’s land was in harm’s way,
The sun surrounded in flame was held at bay.
I abandoned my post to see what went on,
My eyes to never again see the dawn.
If I had legs, or a will of my own, I’d have fled,
My mind flooded with nonsense and dread.
But I had no will of my own, I was my Master’s,
Even through fear, I moved even faster.
I met with the rest of my kind to prepare,
With our future, life and death laid bare.
We prepared to defend the Master's land to the last,
But little did we know that end would be coming on fast.
I met with the rest of my kind to prepare,
With our future, life and death laid bare.
We prepared to defend the Master's land to the last,
But little did we know that end would be coming on fast.
The sky continued to darken, as a purple haze loomed,
When amalgamations began to fall, I knew we were doomed.
I had no warning, with no ability to choose,
When at that exact moment, all Hell itself broke loose.
Half-rotten bipeds with golden swords fell first,
They did not attack until our snowballs we burst.
Fire and ice, damned forever to fight unto death,
Our snowballs melting fast against their demon breath.
Just when every piece of hope was lost,
The Master came to make the demons pay the cost.
My hope was rekindled into an icy flame,
But the universe decided to again curse our name.
Hellish white beasts came through the portal next,
The sheer weight of their onslaught proved our vex.
No hope remained on the face of the earth,
When our time came, we failed to show our worth.
The land was on fire, every tree aflame,
But the Master was rallying us to end the game.
I was beginning to melt, my end was nigh,
Though He would destroy their portal on high.
My snowballs did nothing to stop the onslaught,
The terraformation of our world was just too hot.
But the Master climbed towards the sky,
It was that moment when it was my time to die.
I would’ve followed the Master through Hell,
But when I tried to move to help, I fell.
The sheer heat from the fire on the land
Tore my molecules into oblivion in its deadly hand.
No longer constrained to the death of this world,
Or bound to the fire that on the earth unfurled.
My only regret was failing the Master when He needed me most,
But now my conscience must go and find a new host.
First off, thank you for reading my entry! I spent the better part of two weeks working on it, so hopefully you enjoyed it! If you need any explanation on parts in the poem, please leave a comment! And of course, if you did enjoy it, please leave a diamond or favorite!
If you have any criticism, or any ideas on how I could improve before the contest enters the reviewing stage, I'd love to hear 'em!
