Okay. First of all, we all know that this great website consists of great submissions. Some of them are created by whom who have autism. "What is autism?" you might ask. Well, I'm just getting to that part right now.
Well, "autism is basically a mental disorder in which someone lacks normal social and emotional responses and appears to be completely self-absorbed." About 1 in 100 of all children have autism. Autism cannot be cured, but it can be treated.
Well, autism can be a good thing, although it can be a bad thing as well. The good benefits can include coordination, learning abilities, and stronger minds. People with stronger minds can have increased judgement and can have an advantage to be better at solving puzzles than many others. I've heard that there is this German company that does the engineering. It hires especially those who have autism. Do you know why? Because the company figured out that autistic people are so good at engineering. The German company does a pretty good job at engineering pretty much. The bad advantages, however, can include sensory issues, social and emotional disabilities, and other disorders, such as ADD (Attention Districtive Disorder), ADHD (Attention Districtive Hyperactivity Disorder), and OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). People with autism are very likely to have good and bad advantages. People without autism can still do a pretty good job, but can also get bad advantages as well. So back to that question: Is autism ever a good thing? Well, if the benefits get paid off, then sure.
So when you see PMC submissions created by those who have autism, you are very likely to expect those to be found as fun and at an excellent quality. I'm one of those people who have autism, but I seem to be doing a very good job at social networking. My autism is among the best of them all. Did you know that I have autism? That's pretty much why you find my creations as fun. So don't feel downed just because you have autism. Enjoy being autistic like me!
