I have been surfing PMC recently and have found that there is still a huge amount of modders creating base class mods (where you drop the files into the minecraft.jar). Why? Base class mods are so annoying, there are huge amounts of incompatibility issues, and the crash rate is like 50%! Forge mods, on the other hand, are easy, you just drop the jar file (or sometimes zip file) in your mods folder. With the new launcher you can have multiple versions of Forge installed at once and easily switch between them. Installing Forge itself is also a breeze, just run the installer! Basically, I am just saying that by now everyone should either already have made the switch to Forge, or be working on it. Just my two cents.
