HEY EVERYBODY!
Alright, so we all have heard the song let it go recently, I dont know one person who hasn't got it stuck in their head atleast once. It has mainly attracted the girl audience. Ever since the release of the movie Frozen, it has hypnotized most of the girls of America and possibly the entire world. My opinion is that the song should let go. <<< no frozen pun intended :3
I have a list of reasons why I think this song is popular.
1: It is a pretty strong song that puts the traditional princess feel in disney movies.
2: The animation in the video is pretty good and appeals to younger audiences.
3:It is Disney <<< Valid point.
I also have some reasons why I think this song needs to be let go.
1:The saggy and sad theme is a good girl who refuses to be good anymore. It's a coming-of-age story, it's a Bildungsroman and it's as overused this decade as a plumber's handkerchief. If you don't believe me, have you ever heard of...Brave, the Twilight Trilogy, the Hunger Games trilogy, the 50 Shades Trilogy, etc. Beating a theme into the ground is a time-honored tradition, but recognizing a song on the tail end of the fad with an Oscar? That's unbelievable.
2:The repeated lyric "The cold never bothered me anyway" is nonsensical. Is the narrator comfortable with the possibility of social isolation or is she convincing herself she is? Either way, why is the music so dramatic?
3:Neither the Academy nor the song's authors understand preteen or teenage children. If a preteen or teen comes up to you and actually performs the miracle of telling you they're upset, the single worst thing you can say is "Just ignore what they say, you'll be fine." No 12-year-old (except budding sociopaths) fails to measure themselves against their peers, and their moods thrive on it.
But what can I say, those are my reasons. Post what you think is good or bad about it in the comments and thanks for reading

I see what you are saying, but the song is more of a girl who was basically locked up on a room and became free. Yes, she was listening to her parents, but they had the wrong idea, even with good intentions. Did you watch the movie until the end?
"2:The repeated lyric "The cold never bothered me anyway" is nonsensical."
She has ice powers; she can't feel cold, even if she can it doesn't bother her. Yeah, it might not be true for whoever sings it, but IT'S A SONG.
"3:Neither the Academy nor the song's authors understand preteen or teenage children."
I think this is completely unrelated.
I know tons of people are singing the song, and it might be getting a little annoying, but these reasons are invalid and overcalculating. I think the only reason why people sing it is because IT'S CATCHY. The only real reason why they should stop is because it's getting annoying.
Just ignore and be patient - it'll stop eventually.
