As the most famous Minecraft Youtubers, Simon and Lewis (AKA Honeydew and Xephos) are about to reach the monumental milestone of 5 million subscribers - more than the entire population of New Zealand. With every video receiving around a million views within a week of uploading, they remain kings of the Yogscast family and are soon to be among the ten most-subscribed-to Youtubers. But has this success come at the cost of thousands of other hopeful Youtubers? Have Simon and Lewis really earned their views, or did they just get a lucky break? Are they truly the funniest and most entertaining to watch?
Judging by the latest o Jaffa Factoryo videos, the answer is o noo . Here, the eye-popping liveliness and fun of the Jaffa factory has been abandoned in favour of a new project which has something to do with bees. Lewis spends several precious minutes per episode explaining the mind-numbing process ofo ¦ well, it was so dull that I switched off. Despite endless discussions of what they plan to do, very little gets done by the team, which also includes the highly forgettable Sjin and Duncan.
The conversations between these other two, less prestigious Yogscasters made it seem like a first dateo awkward, unwatchable. Sjin sounds as if heo s desperately trying to sound interested in what the others have to say. The greatest source of excitement is a puddle of lava, pink leaves and a few bees spilling out of a pipe. Lewis goes on and on. Even Simon seems subdued and disinterested. This isno t the stuff of great Youtubers; this is the stuff that makes me wonder why Io m watching when I could be playing the game myself. Despite the astronomical number of mods thrown into the game I can imagine even the most hardcore, square-eyed Tekkit fans losing interest.
Particularly dull has been the new o Trucking Tuesdayo series, involving glitchy games about noisy vehicles that nobodyo s heard of or wants to play. Terrible graphics, a lack of action and repeated sounds from Simon that sound like o Oink Oinko make it an atrocious viewing experience. Not to mention that the main part of the audienceo Minecraft playerso is being ignored. Unsurprisingly, views and likes have been lower than the average for their videos. o Wello ¦o ¦.WTf was that???o and o Simon is freaking stupid in thiso are the sorts of comments starting to appear, along with persistent requests for more o Shadow of Isphraelo videos. Sounds fair enough to me.
However, we only need to look at other content from the boys to see some real action. o Yoglabso is a creative success, with the latest and greatest mods being tested in the Yogscast laboratories, to great effect. When tackling a giant mutant zombie, soaring into the sky on a pig, journeying into deep space, splicing a creeper and doing an Indian accent, Simon is unstoppable.
In the recent series, o City of Love,o the genius of Simon was truly exploited when picking up a hooker and enjoying the full rewards of this. Although it made Lewis seem slightly dull in comparison, this was a highly enjoyable and imaginative series, similarly to o Surgeon simulatoro . Io ll never forget Simono s maniacally unrestrained and ridiculously over-the-top laugh while covered in blood and slicing open someoneo s skull with a laser.
But one series has become particularly unforgettable. Episode 24 and 25 of o Voltzo were triumphs. The series promised a great deal when Lewis started building a bunker and a cache of weapons ready for a nuclear war. After a slow start the series has become one of the Yogscasto s best, and now the war has started it is not disappointing. After suffering a devastating attack by Ridge, Simon, Lewis and Duncan used bazookas and grenades to fight their way through the high-tech machinery of Ridgeo s giant base. The awesomeness of this alone was exciting. The sense of mystery and tension, with the right amount of humour, led to a great climax. Clearly a giant setup, but still good. Leto s hope that Voltz continues and keeps escalating, as, judging by the comments, ito s what the viewers clearly want.
To keep growing, the Yogscast dono t need to focus on Minecraft-playing audiences, as shown by the brilliance of the o Garyo s Modo series. They do deserve the success, because most of the time, they get it spot on. They have a clear identity and most importantly, likeability: the magic formula that pulls viewers in. All they have to do is keep uploading regularly, maintain the flow of creative ideas and listen to their audiences. But I dono t think theyo ll have any trouble. As long as Minecraft stays alive, so will the legendary Honeydew and Xephos.

Also, what you said literally doesn't make sense. If I HAD said that it was boring, then expanding out of MC would be good and would make sense. Think about what you say before you say it :)
Finally, I think you'll find there are many thousands of fans that still watch their Tekkit series and remain amused by the series, as, though there is a large portion of people who do not enjoy the series, there are still some people avidly defending it, I do not include myself amongst them, I only defend something if no-one else seems to be.
Finally, I meant in my comment, that I would have thought you might want them to improve their current projects, before moving onto more, as this would end with all of their videos being downgraded by them trying to find new material at a more constant rate, for more things. Think about your response before you post it please :)
The last sentence of your comment = way to be original.
I can't be asked to respond to the rest because I have things to do.
