Have you ever found strip mining or clearing out large amounts of underground tedious? Have you perhaps found copper and Amythest to be pointless outside of aesthetics? Well no more with this laser drill. Using only coal for fuel, this laser drill mines a 5x5 tunnel in front of it until either it runs out of fuel, overheats, or reaches its maximum range.

Building the drill requires 6 waxed copper blocks, 1 redstone lamp, 1 blast furnace, 2 hoppers, 2 diamond blocks, 6 iron blocks, 1 Amythest crystal, and 1 Amythest Cluster. See photo gallery for how they should be positioned.

Once all the blocks are placed and in the correct positions (It doesn't matter which directing blocks like the hoppers and blast furnace are facing), right click the redstone lamp with a warped fungus on a stick. If the structure is built correctly, particles will appear. In order to turn on the drill, there needs to be coal, no other fuel, in the blast furnace as well as anything to cook, and the lamp needs to be turned on. You only need one item in the cooking slot as the blast furnace won't act as a regular furnace when the structure is activated. You can use any method you choose to turn on the lamp as long as it doesn't break the structure. If at any time the structure is broken, excluding the Amythest cluster, then you will have to right click the lamp again with the fungus on a stick. Feel free to add on to the structure, it won't cause it to stop working.

While the drill is running, the blast furnace will burn 1 coal every 20 ticks, so bring a few stacks with you. After about 30 seconds of running, the drill will begin to overheat shown by the smoke rising from the Amythest. If left to continue overheating, the Amythest cluster will shatter about 10 seconds later. To stop overheating, either remove the coal from the blast furnace, turn of the lamp, or break the Amythyst cluster. Once any of these are done, the machine will begin to cooldown shown by steam on the sides. Once the steam is gone, the drill will be fully cooled down.

The drill breaks everything

The drill does not work at and beneath y level -56. No bedrock for you.

You can put any stained glass in front of the Amythest cluster to change the color according to the glass color. Not panes though. Any block other than glass blocks will be broken upon beam startup.

Standing near the beam will give you withering.

The beam will more than likely cause some frame drops, but it shouldn't be that bad depending on your computer.
