Are you lost? Hopefully you're not as lost as these souls! Presenting: the Wandering Soul. Add some spooks to your gameplay, as if the cries of souls below weren't enough.
This datapack features a brand new "ambient passive" mob that spawns in the Nether. This mob does not attack; instead, Wandering Souls float around, giving you the occasional thousand-yard stare if you get too close. They serve the purpose of generating ambience for Soul Sand Valleys, similar to bats in caves. As of update 3.0, they can be Steve or Alex themed.
Ghosts can't die, can't they? These mobs are fickle. You get to close, they disappear. You swing at them, they disappear. You shoot them with a bow, they disappear. Even tossing a snowball at them will cause them to disappear elsewhere. If you really must insist on killing one, a netherite hoe will get the job done. They drop little experience and a small chance to drop their head.
MAIN FEATURES
- Special advancement dedicated to killing a Wandering Soul
- Special rare head item dropped upon death
- Invulnerable to all forms of damage, except to by netherite hoes. Must be hit 3 times to die
- If killed, heals 2 hearts through small burst of regeneration
- Spawn condition is shared by skeletons and zombified piglins while in Soul Sand Valleys, i.e., those default mobs have a chance to be replaced by Wandering Souls upon spawning
- AI is shared by vex, except Wandering Souls do not target or attack the player
- Extremely rare chance to spawn behind the player while digging through soul sand
