Bukkit and Spigot Difference?

Hello!
So I have noticed that people online seem to be liking Spigot more than Bukkit. I wonder why, because whenever I search for plugins, they are all for versions of Bukkit. So why would people like Spigot more? Don't get mad at me thinking I'm hating on Spigot, but I've never tried it. Would you recommend I do, or stick with Bukkit? I have noticed it takes like, 1 minute for my minecraft to respond when I use a command, does Spigot do that to? And can I use bukkit plugins on Spigot?

Spigot is more efficient than Bukkit, it has more options and control.
