If you have a budget of $1000 including monitors, this is probably one of your better bets. I wouldn't expect to be playing games at 5760x1080 maxxed out on all three monitors at the same time, but you should comfortably be able to play games on one monitor and use the two others for other purposes (Skype or other similar programs). The i5 is unlocked while the motherboard is not, but that's only because the locked version of the processor was more expensive. You could pay a little more and buy a Z97 motherboard instead, but that's up to you.

If your monitor budget is separate, then this is probably a good bet for you. It will offer better performance than the $1000 build with monitors, and you'll have room to add another 970 if you want to in the future. There's a very nice Z97 motherboard on this list because it supports SLI, and your PSU will also allow you to SLI. If you decide to SLI two 970s, you could probably play your games on three monitors at at least medium-high settings. Of course, if you don't want to SLI, you can reduce the price a bit by changing the PSU and the motherboard, just keep in mind that while the 970 is more powerful than the 280x, it won't be able to max out your games on three monitors alone.

I threw in an AC Wi-Fi card, a 1440p monitor for gaming and another 1080p monitor for multi-tasking. The price is only 5 dollars more than your limit, but I think that that much money would be easy for you to find.

Well I dont know all about wifi cards tbh, but I thought a more expensive one would have better features and speed. But you seem to know more about wifi than me, so I'll listen to you.

@OP You should go with me or grim's build.

You will get the three monitors that you wanted if you go with grim's but you get worse wifi and processor.

My build doesnt meet the three monitor requirement, but has a bit more expensive processor and wifi than his.

So its really your choice

He said he can spend an extra 300 dollars. I dont think raising the price to the very tippy top would be very good. And I bet he'd much rather have something closer to 1000.

This should be a decent build. Though I would wait for a more senior member of the PC Group.

If you really want the 3 monitors in your budget, you'd have to get pretty bad ones for it to fit into your budget. I put in two and its still overbudget, but I suggest just getting two monitors right now and getting the third later when you have more money
