Help with texture packs

i just got minecraft on this pc and i cant figure out how to apply texture packs. i have followed instructions ive found online. i dont think it is soartex fanver or flows hd thats the problem. i have downloaded multiple texture packs in an attempt to apply them and all my efforts have failed. i follow all the steps ive found multiple time and nothing has worked. can anyone please help? thank you in advance

apparently all the zip files i download are empty. do you have to have another software installed?

Try putting the resource pack on your desktop, then search %appdata%, choose roaming, then .minecraft (or minecraft) go to resourcepacks, the put the resource pack into that folder, and when you go into minecraft go to resourcepacks and select it!

when i go to minecraft and select it i get an error message

yes.i copy the file from downloads and then paste it into the resource packs folder through the options in the game in the resource packs sections,

Did you place the zip in the /resourcepacks/ folder?
