Hello, as Spigot does not provide any support for its build of 1.7.2 I will happily answer any questions you may have.

B. Chat is in two different colours!
A. I recommend using Herochat, Bukkit Plugin. It reduces this bug.

B. I cannot use 1.7.2 Items.
A. Craft Bukkit would be needed [or alternate like vanilla] to use these items. Spigot only enhances performance of Bukkit servers although releasing a "1.7.2" version it is not compatible with 9/10 new items.
